If your a meat eater then you should try here! If your a vegan/veggie (as my wife is) then theve got to try a bit more. The Sunday nut was too dry and not very appealing. But it's great that finally theses days she was given the vegan option. We can't comment on any other meals on the menu, but I'm sure they will be excellent as was my pork. All in all a good pub/restaurant. We had a lovely lunch here in this popular pub. On arrival we were quickly seated and had our drinks order taken. The food (venison pie and fish and chips) was excellent - an error with one of the meals was immediately rectified without fuss. The staff we spoke to were all friendly and professional. Highly recommended. Very good choice. We were sitting on the terrace, enjoying an absolutely lovely atmosphere. The food was beautifully presented, thoughtfully decorated, and tasted excellent. The staff were attentive and polite, making it a truly pleasant experience. Spontaneously popped in at fairly short notice for Sunday dinner. Fantastic service, all the staff were brilliant. Good menu for a Sunday! Great portion size, and the comes with unlimited (very good) potatoes and gravy - nice touch! We’ll definitely be back soon to try the standard menu. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and portion sizes were sensible. The restaurant and surroundings are so lovely. We had brilliant service particularly from Ben who was welcoming, friendly and thoughtful, and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble, even when my toddler spilt orange juice all over his chair. He brought us another one straight away without us even asking. Food was a bit of a wait but it was worth it. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful team at the Square & Compass to help us celebrate our wedding. From the very first meeting right through to the big day itself, the team at The Square & Compass were warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. They genuinely listened to what we wanted and brought it to life in ways that felt personal to us. Everything ran so smoothly on the day and so many of our guests commented on the delicious buffet and food that the Square and Compass had prepared! The food was delicious, the service seamless, and the whole experience reflected us — which is exactly what we hoped for. I had the Thai red duck curry and my partner had the fish and chips. Duck was fatty and chewy with little sauce and a few mange tout. Partners fish batter was soggy. I expected much better. Very disappointed. However , nice setting and comfortable seating. Recently moved into the village and have just been to the pub for a fabulous Sunday with all the trimmings. Delicious, tender beef, lovely Yorkies, potatoes and gravy and fresh, perfectly cooked veg. James gave us a very warm welcome and the staff are all really attentive. A great touch that they circulate with extra potatoes and gravy halfway through! Highly recommend, we’ve already booked again for when our friends visit in a couple of weeks.
