This place it's really amazing, if you come in heraklion you really need to make a trip here, you can arrive here with local transportation if you don't have a rented car. The forest it's like in tropical jungle and waterfall it's amazing,you can also take a bath here but take care,the watter it's very cold. The is not that interesting but it is the start of the Richtis Gorge route. You can park here, better than on the parking place at the main road. This place is the start of the Richtis Gorge trail. You'll have to pay 3 euros at the little house at the beginning. 2 choices : way in way out to the beautiful waterfall or you can continue to the beach. We stopped at the waterfall and the walk is so worth it, several plants and animals along the trail... The path is not too exposed by the sun, delightfull 1 hour walk down to the gorge. We read the suggestions and headed towards the following Google Maps instructions... Don't do that. As previously mentioned by some others, the track is not for road cars, so we stopped ahead and walked the last 500m to the before starting the hike. I think you can go on a nicer road all the way to the from the main road (35.1643577, 25.9890644) or alternatively driving all the way to the beach and then hiking up but it felt not as nice. Going back to the hike, it is a bit more than an hours down walking at good pace and same back. Beach at the bottom is cute but lot of garbage unfortunately and when we were there it was windy so there were waves and we could only get wet but not swim for real (I think it is nicer on days with no wind), I don't know, to be confirmed 😊 The hike itself, through the gorge is beautiful. Bring good shoes. I suggest going early (with water and a snack).
