Lovely place. Contrary to Google not showing a cafe on site, there is one, but apparently they only open in the summer and good weather. It was open when we visited and have an outside seating and toilets. The park is also very good, ideal for those with children as there are swings, various lig challenges and a hobbit cave. Well worth a visit for all ages. Large car park too Enjoy coming here with the kids age 11 and 12. The bike trail is about 8km long but can make shorter or longer by using the smaller routes around. Bike hire availible too. My boy got a punctute on the route and they happily fixed it for us back at the hut. You can go down to the main if you want a drink or bite to eat. There is a woodland with different things to explore also. Theres even some EV charge points here too! Lovely venue to stop for a coffee after a wonderful walk around this beautiful parkland Calke Explore is a brilliant spot for a day out, especially if you’ve got kids who love being outdoors. The play is tucked away in the woods, with lots of natural features that are perfect for climbing, exploring, and just having fun in nature. The Tramway Trail is a addition—you can walk or cycle along it, and the tunnels are a real highlight, adding a bit of adventure to the journey. It’s a lovely way to stretch your legs and take in the scenery. The facilities are really well thought out. The café has some options, and the toilets are super clean, which is always a bonus! There’s loads of parking, and if you’ve got time, the nearby National Trust house is definitely worth a visit. All in all, it’s a spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts. This is a national trust site in the same grounds as Calke Abbey. MAKE SURE TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THE TURN TO CAULKE EXPLORE AS ITS FIRST ONE AND WE MISSED IT ON OUR FIRST VISIT! Lots of natural play areas for the kids. We didn't get to explore the route but there was a bike hire hub that includes the towed trailers for younger children to get involved. Highly recommended and plan to go back and make use of the bike hire so we can explore some more. A wonderful, nature based play for little ones (and big ones!) In a woodland setting. The feels very safe and encourages lots of movement, as well as interaction with the natural surroundings. The badger set tunnels are impressive and to explore. Toilets and picnicking facilities are a minute's walk away for extra convenience. This is a as a destination in itself or to integrate as part of a broader visit to the house, gardens and wider parkland. This is not free as entrance is after the payment gate, so is £8 per person. Good walking trails, or can hire a bike. Nice snack cafe, but not cheap. Good exercise and easy trails. Really gorgeous stately home with an expansive playpark and coffee shop. The coffee shop is a small chalet with outdoor seating - the coffee is somewhat overpriced and there are no gluten free options available to eat, so would recommend a picnic.
