An old English church which turned to the of Sherlock holmes (due the fact that he "died" nearby). The place is very informative but very small... A tour of max ½ hour will do to take all the data u need about the great detective. Opening hours a bit weird (1330-1800). The Sherlock Holmes in Meiringen is a charming tribute to literature’s most iconic detective, offering an intimate dive into Arthur Conan Doyle’s world. Located in the historic English Church basement, the features a meticulously recreated Victorian-era living room of Holmes and Dr. Watson at 221B Baker Street, complete with period artifacts and storytelling exhibits. **Highlights**: - **Authentic 221B Baker Street replica**: Wander through Holmes’ study, filled with vintage furniture, magnifying glasses, and other sleuthing tools. - **Multilingual audio guide**: A 35-minute tour provides engaging context in nine languages, enhancing the experience. - **Affordable entry**: At CHF 7 for adults (CHF 4 for children 6–15), it’s a budget-friendly stop (as of 2025). **Practical tips**: - **Hours**: Open weekends (1:30 PM–5 PM) in winter (Nov–Apr) and daily (1:30 PM–6 PM) in summer. Confirm times via their website before visiting. - **Combined experience**: Pair your visit with the nearby Reichenbach Falls—accessible via funicular—where Holmes’ fateful showdown with Moriarty occurred. While compact, the museum’s attention to detail and nostalgic atmosphere make it a must for Holmes enthusiasts. Just don’t expect a sprawling exhibit—its charm lies in its focus and authenticity. *Pro tip*: Check out the bronze Holmes statue in Conan Doyle Square before heading to the falls! Nobody with ice cream should be allowed to enter the museum. The boy, who was sipping ice cream loudly interrupted my listening to the audio guide. Unfortunately it impacted my impression of the visiting the museum. Nice little in the heart of Meiringen. Parkingprices are fair. The is really small, but fun. The history of Sherlock Holmes is well explained. Dogs are not allowed, not even in a special carrying bag! The entrance fee is 5CHF. Pretty cool place. Maybe not as many sherlock Holmes artifacts as I would like, but this place is still pretty cool to visit...when paired with a trip to Reichenbach falls it makes it all worth it. It's a step back In history into the life of a man that never lived. And the man who created him. I wasn't expecting to find a Sherlock Holmes in Switzerland , and yet here it is...it looks very small , until you enter and see how interesting it is! It looks like there was a old movie where it took place in a waterfall also part of Sherlock Holmes universe , where he fought to death with Moriarty ( you should and highly advice to visit the waterfall it's gorgeous!) In the ,you will see props ,a room decorated exactly like in times of Sherlock ,history walls and small shop at the entrance with both tikets and Sherlock authentic English merch! For wheelchairs the first floor is no problem , the second is stairs only , parking space was difficult to find , the is located close to center of the village. There is also a bakery that makes special small cakes decorated with Sherlock Holmes, (cool!) Very interesting little museum, good audio guide information, worth spending 1/2 hour. Brings Sherlock to life. Loved the H.O.L.M.E.S. exhibit! Don't forget to show your Haslital guest card for a discount. Such a cute little that is a must if your a Shelock Holmes fan and/or are looking for something to do in Meiringen. We came on a Sunday, while we were waiting for our train as its right next to the train station. The tour is done via an audio guide (they have lots of languages) and it takes about 30 minutes. The entrance costs about 5 CH and it includes the audio guide.
