We bought some Buffalo mozzarella, and it was delicious and very affordable. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open until 12:30, we had to leave 😞 made of bufala milk is one of the excellencies of Italian food, & La Lupata is one of the excellencies in bufala milk. Excellent prices, wide choice of produce, kind people, convenient & fascinating location exactly along the ancient walls of Paestum Greek town. Recommendable under any aspect. We only stopped to buy a few different cheeses and snacks to take back to our bnb. They have a pretty good variety of fresh and aged and smoked cheeses, and gelatos. They have some minimum purchases of their smaller cheese balls (minimum 5 she told us) which we didn’t quite understand since they’re selling them by weight but whatever. We left with all our samples and will try them tonight with some local wine. Pamela was very nice and patient with our lack of Italian speaking skills. We appreciate her. It’s a beautiful garden along side the ancient city walls and a whole farm complex which makes its own food. It was the best culinary experience we had in Paestum. The service lacks a bit. The buffalo was so good that I returned the next day to buy more. I’d never had cheese like that before and am so glad I came here. The gelato is incredibly tasty. I had their salted caramel and fior di latte. Both were delicious, but I liked the salted caramel more. It was the perfect balance of salty and sweet. Godlike cuisine Brilliant server Totally awesome site, love those ruins and the garden is amazing. Very warm atmospere, I love it. Beautifully set in a scenic farmhouse, close to the archaeological area of Paestum, the location promised a charming dining experience. Unfortunately, the service and food fell short. A mix-up with our order—understandable given the language barrier (we don’t speak Italian, and the staff didn’t speak English)—was handled poorly. Rather than resolving the issue politely, three staff members approached us together in a confrontational manner, insisting there had been no misunderstanding. It felt more like a scolding than a discussion. To follow, the entrecôte was tough and inedible, and no effort was made to address the fact that the customer left the place hungry basically after accepting a dish not ordered to begin with. Feeling unwelcome and disappointed, we chose to skip dessert and leave earlier than planned. The location was magical! We had a demo of how was made, the Casaro who dedicated 34 years of his life perfecting the art of making was very inspiring. Love and passion intertwined in the pasta of the mozzarella. The food was exquisite and portions were abundant. Margot, our server, did an amazing job attending to me and my clients' needs. Excellent and local food in a fantastic location!
