When you're on tour, as I was with the band Firestations, the ever popular is a welcome break from those identikit, um, Welcome Break services. Whilst not the most spacious of cafes it still has all the elements you want from a cafe: fresh produce, simply cooked and swift service. The outside dining space was fairly limited but I guess space is a premium at a fully functional farm! Lovely place. Lovely service. Fabulous selection of local and fresh meats at great prices. Been here a few times now, staff have always been friendly and food selection in the is decent, personally I've had the pulled pork butty and a bacon sandwich, both have been very good. Coffee was surprisingly really too. The has a selection of products, the counter looks pretty too. Well worth a visit if in the area. 10/04/23 Just been back and had a bacon with a flat white, whilst my other half had the beef, mushroom and onion roll, both were very good. Also grabbed a pork and caramelised onion sausage roll and some local honey from the shop, the honey is literally just from along the road.from the shop. 11.02.24 Back again. Bacon still excellent. Coffee still decent. Nice little shop,I didn't buy anything in the butchers but it looks very clean and fresh. Tea room a selection of cakes and pies, quiches. There's a few animals for children to see. I would definitely call in again. A perfect stop, just off the A1 southbound. was well stocked. Very reasonable prices in the and breakfast rolls were tasty. It was extremely busy, but tables turned over quickly. As another reviewer has spotted - keep a close eye on the use by dates. Large packs of being sold with just one day left. On the positive side, the sells an interesting range of pies but really very small sausage rolls at ridiculous prices. The is pretty basic, I had a tuna and sweetcorn which lacked any mayonnaise, relish or salad, and at nearly £6, I'm sure its a very profitable, as well as a very dry Very nice indeed, best tasting duck eggs I have ever had, my friend loved the lamb chops Got some lovely bits & pieces & the coffee was nice in the cafe Shout out to the lamb gravy! Always a joy to visit. The is of superb quality, and you won't find better sausages anywhere in the North East. Everyone is friendly and helpful too. A really and shop. Tasty and great value food, cafetieres of coffee, and an extensive and well thought through children's play with indoor and outdoor space. Friendly and well run! Lovely pies/ sausage rolls and tray bakes. Delicious cheese scones! Had the fortune of discovering this great place whilst travelling the A1 yesterday. Had lunch( soup and sausage sandwich). Bought some really veg and to take home. Such a nice alternative to the usual overpriced mediocre motorway services. Thanks!! We tried this place once and now come to the regularly for breakfast - they do the BEST scones! My little boy loves seeing the Billy Goats and chickens. The play is a nice touch too.. simple but he loves it! The is a little pricey but the products are very quality. Staff are friendly and the is kept tidy. Will be lovely in the summer when we can explore the little gardens and sit out with a picnic Visited today after a recommendation from a friend. We sat outside, under cover, as we had our dogs. choice of quiche, pie and cakes on display. Opted for a scone and coffee which were really good. The is fab, lots of locally sourced items. I bought some delicious black cherries and a ribeye steak. The staff were helpful, Becca was exceptional though, what a credit she is to the company. Made us so welcome and made a fuss of our dogs. A lovely outdoor for sunny days and it looked like there was a special play for children. Lovely place. Caters for the little ones, play and animals and all free. So rare these days. High quality food in the restaurant and in the shop. Eating outside is well catered for too, if only we had the weather. Pleasant staff. Since discovering the when I moved here I now buy all my from them it is sooooo different to supermarket it is wonderful. The have brilliant flour for breadmaking and delicious jams, chutneys and treats. Highly highly recommened.
