Showers to the main fluctuate in temperature and the family room that you have to use is usually freezing (and not that clean) and doesn't have any private shower cubicles. Can be difficult to enjoy a session due to this as the corridor that links the main to the male only room (that does have shower cubicles) is inaccessible from the meaning you would have to get changed, and go to the other room via the main leisure centre if you wanted to get a proper shower. Played squash there in October 2025. Three nice courts with good viewing. Showers and feel like a bus stop away, but everything was clean. Very big leisure centre with easy parking outside I love Concordia, the best spots centre in Britain. It has swimming, climbing walls, badminton, sauna, spinning and so many classes. The 10 pin bowling is fantastic, including a bar and coffee shop with tables. I have used the and family swimming. I must say its very reasonable price and enjoy it thoroughly. The has 2 sections. Babies and toddlers. There are also climbing activities next to it . If you have 2 or more with a few year age difference then this is an ideal place . You can occupy both at the same time. Swimming goes in batches, they call you for the slot timing and give you a band . The safe guards whistle up and show the colour when your is up. Ideally good for parents to occupy their for a few hours on holidays or weekends. Though you might have to plan a head and book prior otherwise you won't get slots . Also they let you change appointments slots , as long as you are reasonable not at the very last minute. The for the desperately need a refurbishment. No private showers and the cubicles are tiny and so dark you can't see. Also the lockers were a blast from the past that require a £1 to lock which no one warned me about. They are also very strict with slots compared to other places leisure centres. They do seem to have an overall nice leisure centre with some good facilities other than the ones. Excellent leisure space for families! Clip n climb, soft play, cafe, swimming, bowling and a gym all under one roof. We went to soft for an hour and a half(ish) before a quick refuel at the cafe and then a fun session with music, floats and just mucking about on the splash pads. Little one didn't want to get out! There's ample parking outside, free for four hours with no return that day. Only thing I could fault, if I'm being really nit picky, is that the were freezing! Not a deal breaker though, we kept our towel by the poolside to wrap the little one up after her shower. Would definitely recommend. **Just be sure to book online before you go as 'Places Leisure' is cashless and spaces for sessions are limited so book up quickly. Creating an online account is really quick and simple though. Don't forget a pound (returnable) for the locker if swimming! Frustrated that the option to purchase a year's was removed this year, and now the option to purchase 3 months in advance has been removed too AND I had to pay a £30 joining fee for the privilege of switching to direct debit payments despite being a (paid upfront) member for years. Less consumer choice and increased charges is not cool. Not even been in yet, trying to find information on pricing before sending the family up. Good value for money, clip and climb particularly, half the cost of what I'd pay in Edinburgh. Dangerously hot for kids 20C outside, 30C+ inside the soft - no airflow whatsoever. All young red faced overheating within 2 minutes. Asked front desk why it was so hot and the older woman rudely sneered “because it’s hot outside?” - I said it’s really impacting the and she just looked at me and shrugged. No aircon or airflow in a 30c room for young soft and a bad rude attitude from the old woman at the front desk? Places Leisure - Disgusting prices Basic adult now £40 from £35 Membership charge £30!!!! £2.50 charge if you fail to cancel a class within a 2hr timeframe Soft excellent +The staff are nice and know what they are doing. ±The gym equipment is up to date. -The prices are just for that is for gym and classes and it's far too pricey, such as if you want gym you will need to pay nearly £40 to use just the gym. -Juniors arrive midday and have a lack of respect for and equipment. You WILL be waiting 30 to 40 minutes to get on a machine that they barely use due to their phones being their main focus and leaving puddles of their drink for to slip on. -Pool gets crowded alot and is rather small, most of the do not respect personal space and nearly cause accidents both physical (people bumping into you) and biologal (kids throwing up). -Spa was barely worth £15 and now it has gone up to £20. Most of the facilities are functioning at half capacity and/or are out of order. The aroma therapy room is by far the worst. Ever since Places Leisure took over they seem to drain the staff for everything their worth and the customers pockets. This is unacceptable, the customers should not have to pay for full price for poor service and the staff seem to have their hands full from management by allowing disrespectful to come in and cause more mess for them to clean up, most of the it's juniors or young adults 18 to 20 that cause this. Places Leisure just bleed you for money, I'd highly recommend some other gym or centre. Concordia used to be such an amazing place but boy is it going down hill. I visit this place every week for my daughter’s lesson so I’m not leaving this review on a whim. Every week I sit for half an hour looking around and feel so sad to see it deteriorating. First of all, the are filthy, they smell worse than a urinal in a pub! I think it’s a cheek to ask to remove their shoes when it’s so dirty. This is every week, and it’s been particularly bad during the heat waves we’ve had recently, the smell hits you like a brick wall as you open the door to enter. Bins are always overflowing. The toilets in the rooms, locks don’t work on doors, there’s always wet, dirty toilet roll on the floor and again, the smell is gross. The toilets near the gym, have taken my daughter in here multiple times after refusing to use the ones in the and sadly they’re not much better. Dirty and so run down. No cleaner board or anything like you would see in a lot of public use toilets. I’m guessing that’s because they’re not cleaned very often. The waiting next to reception (behind the viewing area) I arrive most weeks to rubbish all over the tables and when I leave, that same rubbish is still sitting there and looking around there’s food crushed into the carpet, again no sign of cleaners/staff making any effort to keep the place clean. That same area, the viewing glass is broken, I look at it every week and wonder how it’s been allowed to be left like that, the glass is so dirty aswell, not that that’s the end of the world but it’s such a shame to see the place looking so shoddy. My last mention would be the pool, sitting looking at it every week, the water sprinklers mustn’t work anymore as I’ve never seen them on for atleast a year, the refurb was so good when it was first done but it’s just been left with no upkeep. It’s such a shame. The floor around the looks so dirty/grubby. Positives are that the staff are lovely and my daughter really enjoys her lessons! Sad to see Concordia replying to comments so clearly they’re aware but nothing seems to be being done. I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle this morning at reception. I’d managed to turn up for a cancelled session. Michelle could not have been more helpful!! Michelle gave me some additional advice on how best to book sessions using the app. Then very quickly after this Michelle managed to arrange an alternative option for me rather than my journey there be wasted. Such a pleasant and helpful lady. Thank you 🙂 This place has all the facilities you need for a few hours with the kids. I stress I’m only reviewing the pool/changing rooms. As we know the world has become more and more expensive. And in my eyes you get a lot less for the money you pay. This morning for me and was a prime example of this. The at 10:00 on a Saturday morning. Bins full, and in desperate need of emptying. Floors disgusting, and a general urine odour about the entire facility. Zero evidence of anyone who gives a monkeys regarding this…. Excellent, it’s only the summer holidays and the weekend. And the pool…. Again it could be a great little spot of the kids. Bar the fact it’s so cold you struggle to stay in for the allocated does shout question marks. My advice would be…. Use the fortunes the establishment earns, from hard earned parents and the likes money to uphold a standard at the pool. Used to take our own here regularly but today visited with our grandson. Despite being told in the afternoon that there was no need to book, when we arrived at 15.45 we were made to wait until 16.00 to get changed. The had no more than 8 in it before or after 16.00. The stink of wee. The cubicles are tiny. After 50 minutes in the we were asked to leave as our was up. About 6 in at that time. The showers were ice cold. This was like stepping back in in old municipal pools. Will not be back. I was unable to attend the gym for a while due to illness. I went last week and the gym was closed, there was a temporary gym open until 9pm but 20 minutes into my work out I was told to leave as there was a class about to start. I then went to use the Spa which also wasn't fully operational, the sauna was closed. There also was no water facilities in the gym. I emailed to express my disappointment and I was told that I could use any other gyms in Northumberland. I don't drive, so I took a bus from Cramlington to Ashington which was almost an hour, only to arrive there and find this gym also was undergoing refurbishment and was closed. I wrote another email and had the same response. I have called today and the lady was very nice but she has been instructed by Places for Leisure not to refund anyone and couldn't do anything. It's ridiculous to be paying £50 a month and not being able to use the facilities. I will be cancelling my as soon as the contract has ended and advising everyone to avoid. It has really gone downhill and is definitely not value for money. Customer Service is non-existent. Matt Bowman Do not join this gym, I could no longer keep my as I got diagnosed with a very rare disease and other health problems, I called and explain that I would have to leave instead of cancelling they went on about keeping my on freeze till I was better to rejoin , I told them I want to just cancel my as the disease i have I will not get better, so they then ageed and cancel my membership, they then took another payment out of my account even though I cancelled my membership, I am now waiting for my refund that is over a month and still nothing and ever I call they make some excuse saying it is taking longer then expected because there is lots of back logged refunds so what does that tell you about this company and gym.
