What an amazing flight museum!! First, Thank you very much to Zander for an amazing tour of the Vulcan Bomber. You were so enjoyable to spend time with on the tour. Our ticket to the included a tour of the Vulcan Bomber Flight Deck (Cockpit). What an amazing experience to tour this historical aircraft. The staff at the was extremely friendly and helpful. The on exhibit are just amazing. So many different to see including the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom, Canberra, Fairy Gannet, and many others. The flight decks were open to a number of aircraft. There is a very nice gift shop at the as well. We loved our visit!! This is a must see for aviation lovers. This is an absolutely fantastic place to visit. 4 adults. Plenty of to see especially the Arco Vulcan B.2 XJ823 which we booked to go on board & talk with a volunteer about the plane. Apart from the there is a large selection of memorabilia, plenty of information & a small interesting gift shop. Brilliant, friendly well informed volunteers. We will definitely visit again with other friends. Thank you to all involved A great place to visit, even on a dull, damp day. Easy to find, easy parking, and easy to get around. Smaller than many museums, but the chance to get up close to some great British aircraft, it's run entirely by volunteers, which makes it doubly impressive. For me, the standout experience was the chance to sit in a Vulcan, just incredible. An amazing piece of aviation and cold war history. You can get a coffee/tea/soft drink and snack in the gift shop, and there's a selection of aviation themed items, from models to toys and tee-shirts. I'd encourage everybody to spend some pocket money there and help the along. Entry isn't expensive, and running overheads must be high. Will definitely visit again when the Blackburn Beverley arrives ☺️ We spent part of our day at the Solway Aviation Museum, and it was absolutely worth it! 🛩️ A fantastic collection of – from Cold War jets to classic cockpits you can get up close to. Great for aviation enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. The exhibits are well-presented, and there’s plenty to explore indoors and outdoors. It’s a hidden gem near Carlisle, perfect for families or anyone fascinated by flying machines. And yes – there's always that one person who has to pretend they're in Top Gun... 😄👨✈️ Highly recommend! #SolwayAviationMuseum #Carlisle #PlaneSpotting #HiddenGem Friendly knowledgeable staff. Well laid out and outside, with plenty to see. The included sit and talk in the Vulcan was excellent Lovely little gem of a museum. Largely an outside with about half a dozen to see. Another two main indoor sections, one of which has a few more and a lot of memorabilia. Being able to climb inside a Vulcan bomber is worth the admission price alone though. Just breathtaking. The guides really know their stuff and are more than happy to discuss the place and the equipment with you. Excellent musium, highly recommend, staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable and their all unpaid volunteers. Great selection of aircraft, for the larger ones you can even climb in the cockpit, and its all included in the £7 entry fee, talk about good value for money. There is an indoor building with lots of historical photos, details and gear to see. I would estimate 2 hours to get round everything. For me its worth visiting just to see the size of a vulcan bomber up close, the fact they let you get in the vulcan cockpit was an added bonus, can't imagine many musiums let you do that. If your in the area well worth visiting. P.S. when you arrive, you need to book a free time slot to get in the vulcan cockpit as it only fits 4 people a time plus the musium person, its free but get there early to ensure there is space left. This is one of the best museums I have visited...love Duxford, love elvington, and this is up there tbh... everything is immaculate, the stories on the walls fascinating, the Vulcan tour fascinating, sitting in cockpits on a couple of was a dream....i shall come back, again and again and again Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
