Called in for food and drink after a long feel walk. We hadn't booked but they found us a table and we were quickly served. Great food, service and atmosphere, we highly recommend it 👍 Great dog friendly pub. Excellent food, lovely service. Friendly and welcoming staff. Reasonable prices. My only gripe was that I was too full for pudding 😫 Had a last-minute booking for 2. My wife had the lamb, and I had the gammon. We both had the soup of the day as a starter. We were unable to have a dessert because we were both full. The service was quick and excellent. Will return again next time I'm in the lakes. Will have to try the Sunday roast. Would definitely recommend it. Me and my partner had a wonderful experience at this gorgeous pub. We were served by Stuart who was incredibly helpful and affable, and gave us some useful info and what to see whilst we're here (as we were on a holiday). Fantastic food, too! And it all tasted as delicious as it looks. A lovely meal with my partner, food was amazing and full of flavour, we don’t normally clear 2 courses but did this time! The service was 2nd to none, even though they were still very busy. A fantastic evening finished with a lovely wine, this place is a real credit to the village The quality of the food seems very dependent on what & when you order. I had the meatballs for starters and a salmon fillet with Mediterranean veg for mains one day which wasn't anything outstanding, however another day I had the seafood basket for starters and lamb & mint pie for mains which was incredible. For pub grub, the food is great. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is terrific. This establishment is also dog friendly. I would absolutely return again. Simple tasty pub grub at a reasonable price. Chips excellent! Steak and black pudding pie for me was terrific- lovely pastry. We were staying at a holiday cottage in the village do this made for an easy option. Card machine doesn’t allow for tips so take cash to tip the excellent service. Visited with my partner for lunch. I had the beef dinner with complementary cauliflower cheese and he had vegetable lasagne with salad and garlic bread, side of chips for good measure and everything was fabulous! Clear plates all round! Great friendly staff and fab atmosphere.. even when the pub was really busy at the time. Great selection of draught and spirits.. unfortunately I was driving so I had a soft drink. My partner had a pint of Hobgoblin and was in perfect condition, Can’t wait to visit again as the other specials looked amazing. See you soon.
