It is a pleasant surprise to find such a public in a small city like Jonkoping (almost 160,000 inhabitants) The public areas in the are split in two levels. The ground-floor level dedicated to kids' area, a reception desk, daily newspapers section, travel section, and a cafeteria. On the upper level, the main collection are located with different sitting areas and learning halls. on this level you find the periodical publications, and a one-hour free internet surfing stations. You can also print your documents here using their computers for a few cents. Needless to say, most of the are in Swedish, but you would be surprised to find that there is relatively large collection of in English. Also the boasts in French, Italian, Arabic, Farsi and other languages. The time limit to borrow a book is 3 weeks, with some cents of daily penalty if you fail to return the book on time. Periodicals' time limit is two weeks. Newspaper are to be read in the only. There is a small film theater (180 seats) for special shows. It is located in the under-ground level. Two elevators provide moving access between the library's levels. Keep in mind that the behavior in Public libraries in Sweden is different than those in UK for example. Here, total quietness is not an issue. You can hear people talking and laughing loudly, as well as kids yelling and crying. Even the staff are not in that hush-hush mood. It is more like a social gathering mood than a reading and learning one. Most of the public transportation lines stops right in front of the library, since it is located in the downtown area. However lacks local information for activates, their clubs have been known to discriminate and reject non-swedish. Perfect place for reading، doing research and spending some time. The staff are always helpful and amazing. There are different book clubs and events that anyone can take part in, if you understand swedish. I have Improved a lot by taking part in weekly språck café. There are a variety of and magazines here in several languages including English, persian, french, arabic and more. if you cannot find something you're looking for, you can order it to be delivered. There is free internet for the members, and several types of seating available for comfort and variety. Also, I've noticed that there's no silence here, and people talk with normal volumes everywhere, which was suprising but okay. I have been coming to språkcafe and bokcirkel which are convenient ways of getting better in the language. It's a great place to spend time in overall. Som utbildad bibliotekarie har jag aldrig varit med om ett så oengagerat och otrevligt bemötande. Redan vid entrén fick jag ens ett "hej", vilket känns rätt grundläggande när man besöker ett offentligt ställe. Jag hade tänkt använda bibliotekets scanner för att skanna ett dokument, men stötte på problem direkt. Scannern ville skicka dokumentet till min e-post, så jag gick fram till kassan för att få hjälp. Där fick jag veta att jag behövde ett USB, vilket jag såklart hade med mig. Jag frågade om de kanske kunde hjälpa mig på något sätt, och efter en stunds tvekan föreslog de att jag skulle låna ett USB från dem och använda en dator för att sedan skicka dokumentet till mig själv. Jag fick usb:n, men när jag kom tillbaka till scannern såg jag att det stod i liten text att den ens funkade för scanning. Jag gick tillbaka till kassan, där en annan bibliotekarie hjälpte mig att kolla om de hade något annat USB, samtidigt sa hon att internet var nere och att jag skulle kunna använda bibliotekets datorer för att skicka dokumentet, vilket gjorde situationen ännu mer frustrerande. När jag frågade om någon kunde hjälpa mig att hitta en lösning, svarade hon bara att "vi har så många kunder varje dag, och kan hjälpa alla." Jag blev faktiskt chockad över hur ovillig och oförstående hon var. Jag förstår att det kan vara mycket att hantera på ett bibliotek, men det känns som att deras största uppgift borde vara att hjälpa sina besökare, särskilt när tekniken fungerar som den ska. Tyvärr gjorde det här bemötandet att jag känner att jag aldrig vill komma tillbaka hit igen.
