We went in August and the was about 3 miles overall but limited wildlife. All in all the was very scenic and enjoyable. This is a lovely place for birdwatching or just for a relaxing walk. They are known to host some rare here, and during my I saw a Bittern and a Water Rail among many other birds. I joined a guided and the two guides were great, taking us to the best location and explaining about the history of this nature reserve, which surprisingly, is not very old. It was opened about 30 years ago in what was previously a place where peat was extracted. location. Staff/volunteers very friendly and helpful. Lovely location loads of wildlife. We saw deer, marsh harriers and numerous other birds. Lovely location, toilets at the car park and facilities are good. Well worth a visit. Lovely to see starlings & Bittern. Good carpark, paths and hides. Wonderful reserve, well looked after. Viewing platforms provide excellent views for bird watching. Avalon hide is excellent, managed to see kingfishers at long range. Recommend a and plan to stay a while. Walking is good as well, and we have seen otters at twilight Absolutely loved it. The second we pulled up in the carpark, we could see the buzzing around. Mid-May, the dragonflies emerged, filling the sky. It was just wonderful. Plenty of places and hides to sit at and enjoy the birds. Highly recommend for bird watchers and photographers alike 😉 Gorgeous for a lovely and to see some stunning birds! One of my new favourite spots! Highly recommend it, and completely free for RSPB members, and everyone else only has to pay for parking Wonderful with a mixed habitat and a variety of amazing wildlife. Staff were friendly and free parking as a member, so happy days. Loved the views across the reed beds and marshes and to see Glastonbury Tor was fab. Plenty for the whole family to do and the highlight was Avalon hide. We saw marsh Harriers, white and little egrets, bittern and all the usual suspects you would normally find on beautiful environments like this. day out. 👍 Truly amazing place for bird watching, the reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the toilets were out of use, with no near by and the shop was closed, when the web stated it would be open. But I would go again. Well worth a visit. I visited midweek on 3 different occasions between the end of March and mid-May 2025. It's a superb place for birders but also for anyone interested in nature generally. When I visited, I was able to see and get some photos, including Bittern, Cetti's Warbler, White Egret, Marsh Harrier, and Hobby, to name just a few. There were also lots and lots of dragonflies during my May visit, and a first for me was an Iberian water frog. Being mainly level, and with many wide pathways, it makes the accessible for lots of people. If taking dogs, you will need to keep them on leads, and dogs are not allowed at all in some areas. Overall, a to this is highly recommended. Nice place for a peaceful or to view/photograph birds. No entrance fee and parking is only £3 for all day. There is a small kiosk selling ice creams and drinks and a toilet at the entrance. Magical place bursting with wildlife, whenever we go. Usually it's winter for the murmurations but coming in May we saw masses of dragonflies, grass snakes, hobbies, lapwings, grebes with their chicks to name a few. Gorgeous day in nature with easy to navigate paths on mobility scooter. Quite possibly the best bird watching I've visited in the UK. I especially enjoyed seeing white egrets, little egrets, and gray herons interacting, and seeing creasted grebe chicks. We also enjoyed spotting mini beasts. We just dropped in with small children, on route home from Devon, so didn't get to experience the place to its full potential, but nevertheless we all had fun. I hope to again in the future (probably when the kids are bigger and more patient). I recommend taking binoculars. A brilliant place to for not just birds, but dragonflies, butterflies, mammals and insects. Loos at the car park, plus a RSPB run small shop for ice-creams, coffees and snacks. We would recommend the Avilon Hide for the best birding views. November to February for the Murmurations. Choose a clear day for aerial displays from the Starlings. RSPB members park for free, Coffee hut wasn't open this time. However we came prepared with warm gloves and our own flask My favourite place to go. I have only just started nature photography and living in Bristol i wanted to go somewhere within the surrounding area, this is like 40min drive. It has lovely long walks, the are all around, and now spring is here drying out the walkways, the hides are opening slowly. Stop and take in your surroundings, stop and sit at certain points, because most of the time you past the without realising its there. Car park is easy to get to, Finding it hard going to other reserves, as it just seems so good. Across the other side of it you another a short away. If that all doesn't fit, its a quick drive to Greylakes or Westhey Moore reserve, this area is so underrated. Even saw the common cranes which made an appearance. Slightly tricky to get to, but good (if basic) facilities once there. Be aware that you can buy refreshments on but there is no indoor area to sit in. The itself is great.
