Very helpful and lovely English spoken to help us. Plenty of stuff to find out about the town and surrounding areas. Also found out that the Tourist site near the train station is closed permanently so don’t bother going there like we did! The Tourist Office De Carcassonne provided us with excellent assistance and lovely English-speaking staff. We found plenty of about the town and surrounding areas, making our visit more enjoyable. However, we also learned that the Tourist site near the train station is permanently closed, so it's best not to make the same mistake we did by going there. Horrible and rude. The lady tried to skip us in line, ignored us, but the couple behind us was kind enough to say we were ahead of them. This was purposeful. Then she rudely avoided our questions telling us three times to book a tour. We simply wanted more info on their Halloween parade. She claimed in was a private event, but it’s not. We waited 20 minutes in line to be force feed a paid tour down our throats we had zero interest in. How does this person work at a tourist office? Being self important, rude, and trashy is not how you promote your city. Edit: Went to parade/event that the tourist lady said wasn’t happening, then claimed was a private event. It was fun. Why this person first insisted it wasn’t happening, then said was private who knows? Guess she hates tourists. My recommendation. Just don’t come to Carcassonne. They don’t want international travelers to visit their city. It is quite obvious. Great experience. The advisor provided all the we needed Beautiful room. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Be aware that there is a barrier at the end of the street which can make access a little difficult for 1st time visitors. No lift if anyone has mobility issues. They don’t want to help. We are from another country and we don’t know how this city works. We asked to them to help us to get some about the castle but they don’t border to call them to help us. Sorry, but last time here. It was a little difficult to find. My GPS gave me very poor directions. Leaving from the train station, go straight ahead on Rue Georges Clemenceau about five blocks after crossing the bridge. The square with the Neptune fountain will be on your right. Turn left onto Rue Verdun. It is two blocks down on the left at the corner of Rue Jean Bringer. Both ladies staffing the office spoke English and Spanish when I was there. There is a clean, but not well supplied restroom. Very well placed, having all You need AS around the city and region. Speaks very well english too, possible to buy tickets for castle. Great introduction to the city and how to get around by Mr. Olivier, thank You very much! Nice office, limited selection of for English speakers and I was told that there are no English language tours or bike tours in English which seems incredible for a tourist town like Carcassonne! I ended up downloading a tour in English onto my phone.. beautiful place but lack of guided tours seems a huge gap in a tourist town. Thank you Agathe for all your help and for giving us so much useful for our trip!
