Breathtaking place. That's the best description that suits this place. Buy your tickets for the citywalls here by the way I liked the posters they had better than any of the many souvenir shops around town. 🙈🙊 Very friendly and informative at the desk too. Opens at 9:30am. Found the women to be helpful. Spanish, French and English spoken. Booked a virtual headset experience which was done in their shop at the back. Only disappointment was the 2nd headset experience was only available in French and the women didn't tell us this. (the how they lived one). When told this slightly before by a man working there we asked if we could have a refund then and he said no. So we did it anyway. I did enjoy the virtual experiences but it's a shame we didn't know about the language barrier beforehand. Extremely with informarion and maps! They lent us a wheelchair for a couple of hours free of charge for an elderly family member. We took the guided in Spanish and we loved it. Good value for money. Our guide, Rémy, was very informative and funny, and kept the visit interesting by interacting with us constantly, quizzing us, telling jokes, etc. My suggestion is that they start using microphones (the kind with individual audio receivers), because if the group is big and there's lots of tourists around, it's difficult to hear the sometimes. The staff at the office itself were also very professional and nice, and gave us all kinds of information, maps and leaflets. Staff and were just plain nasty. It was a dreary day and they just added to the cold and miserable weather. Can't even say whether the was knowledgeable or not, her "middle school teacher schooling kids" attitude was really off-putting to say the least. Fantastic guided of the old city on this very hot day. Unfortunately I don’t remember the guide’s name, but she was from Normandy originally and so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Carcassonne and Occitanie. The provided a fantastic overview and history of the city over the past 26 centuries, and is an absolute bargain at 12 Euros per person. The online booking process could not have been easier, and everyone in the tourist office was very welcoming and helpful. They do a great job managing the crowds and still providing a top notch experience. Super friendly and workers. They sold us the Castle tickets without waiting lines and recommended us how to proceed. Working with a smile. Perfect language. We also got a game for kids to visit the Cité. Our kid had tons of fun looking for the Dame Carcas pigs and got her deserved gift! Visited Carcassonne for just a weekend trip and wanted to get the full out of it so we decided to enjoy the city bit more than take the bus to the airport. However as time went by we couldnt find a Bolt taxi and Lluis from the Tourist office came to the rescue!!! I want to thank Lluis as he booked us a taxi to the airport from Cite and he gave us the card of the taxi as well in case they called us!! Thank you ever so much Lluis! We made it to the airport!! 😀 Carcasonne is a great place and so much more to do and see in the whole area, definitely worth a visit for more than one day. The tourist office was very and spoke their languages very well. A advice to visit to let you be guided and informed around this great part of 🇫🇷. We also did the VR experience which was a great way to learn more about the history. Very helpful, patient and kind, they provided so much information. We loved the posters, by the way! Had a guided in English. The was fantastic, very knowledgeable, answered all the groups questions, and seems legitimately interested in everything about Carcassonne. The lady was really nice to us. I recommend to visit! MONEY STOLEN! We had our guided booked and paid for Nov 1st at 15h15. After waiting for 30 min at the place and seeing other tours happening, our was cancelled. In order to submit the claim, We had to share all our bank account details at the counter for a promise to get reimbursed. After some follow-ups by email and calls, Still nothing. Very incompetent. We feel scammed.
