Beautiful secluded beach, steep hike down and then up. There is a waterfall but seemed a bit dried up, the access to the was hard, large rocks but sea seemed to be +25c or more. Remote and peaceful location, only short but steep hike. Great place but note no facilities whatsoever. All the cafes/cave houses are boarded up. No fresh water. Steps down into the crystal clear Atlantic- stunning! Sat Nav cannot find the place. Where it takes you to - turn around and keep driving (think it's right when you get to a junction). 2/3km or so you'll pass over a bridge and the steps down are on your right. You'll be able to park somewhere- I parked before the bridge. 700 or so steps down, very steep in places. It's a dead place now. Btw I think that the sewage was already let into the ocean at that place before the landslide, so it wasn't suitable for swimming even back then. Awesome place. Currently April 2025 the path is clear of weeds and rocks and well maintained but has a barrier to stop people proceeding. There is a track around the barrier. Around 720 steps down and up. Very steep. You must be in good physical condition and bring good shoes. Restaurant was closed and fountains didn’t work. There are public toilets . Fantastic views, for good swimmers. Bring water, sunscreen and shoes. Please take your garbage when leaving. You need to be fit to to the beach. No wheelchair accesa.. it will take you 20 minutes to down and an hour to up. It is hard going and shire drops so if you have a fear of heights not go. Easy route is Ribera Brava and take a boat. Fantastic beach with amazing snorkellikg just off the concrete pontoon. can be quite choppy as you enter but it's perfectly safe if you're prepared with snorkelling equipment. Park in the spaces near the school in town. down is quite steep. I would suggest good sturdy trainers or hiking shoes for the down and up. The back up took us less than 15 minutes (2x 26 years old & 1 time healthy woman in 50s) so if your knees and everything you need for walking are okay then you'll be fine as long as you're careful! Bring water, you'll need it. Below is a short video of the 'worst' bit going down. There is a handrail to hold on to for this! Not for the novice - inumerable steps down - it will feel like 10x that going back! Questionable knees? Pick another beach to to. That said - there is an informal boat going between Ribeira Brava and the dock here for us lazy ones. Cafe open busy days - great dorado (be on notice the portions are huge!). Overnight guest rooms built into the cliffs too.
