It is a church of recent construction, that is around the middle of the last century, even if it rises on the remains of a much older building of worship, the Church of Santa Maria ad Bocetum dating back to the early 16th century. It was profoundly renovated in the early 2000s and therefore currently has a distinctly modernist configuration. It has a gabled roof, while the façade is embellished with a red brick trifora that surmounts the small roof over the entrance door. Cathedral dedicated to Mary but also to saint Bernardo, a patron saint of the city Teramo. Guess who is more important😇 Build almost 900 years ago, romanesce style. It is not as rich in ornaments as newer cathedrals but has a lot of old ones out of stone. Love the relief oposite the main doors from the square. Serene and splendid 😻😻 Its Amazing historical place. There are so many artistic things statues, paintings, the silver magnificent table. You have to go and visit. Excellent cathedral - mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture. I recommend to look attentive at all sides of the cathedral - it's real feast of wonderful art of different ages. Inside you can see beautiful altar image of Jacobello di Fiore (the chapel to the right of main altar) Artworks in the church include the silver antependium of the high altar, a masterwork by Nicola da Guardagriele, who worked on it with his workshop from 1433 to 1448. This antependium replaced a previous one, also of precious quality, which had been stolen in 1416 during the troubles following the death of King Ladislaus of Naples. Teramo cathedral is well known for its beautiful aesthetic. The Teramo Cathedral is situated in the heart of the city, and it is centered among four historical neighbourhoods: San Giorgio, Santo Spirito, Santa Maria a Bitetto and San Leonardo. The Cathedral, with is imposing structure and its bell tower, it is one of the most important religious and architectonical buildings in the Abruzzo region, and it has always been the visible centre of this city as well as its symbol. For this project Uponor installed an underfloor heating system. The state of the cathedral called for a conservative intervention, and the underfloor solution was the ideal one in order to provide a comfortable environment for the faithful as well as to preserve the feature of such historical building. Beautiful, ancient cathedral. One of the landmarks of Teramo. Don't forget to see the ancient altar inside.
