Finally sit on the Chiemsee walking bridge and enjoy the sunset 🌅 view. One of the beautiful and biggest lakes in Bavaria close to Munich and Rosenheim. Chiemsee is a place which has lot to offer starting from rides, ferris, vintage train, barbeque, food and as a surprise a small water park too. Visiting this place with a group of friends along with a packed lunch is the best package one can go with. The rides are very nice along with manual and electric powered and that too not so expensive. For pedal it is around 12 Euros per hour and motor it is around 20. Really nice place to enjoy nature, water, excellent view for a day or even for a holiday. Bike rails, tracking, kayaking, rental, restaurants, ice salons, cafes, you can find here everything you need for having a good time. Beautiful lake, would suggest to take a ferry and Hereinsel and Frauinsel :) Super nice island hopping! The on a sunny day is insanely beautiful. Highly recommend for a day trip or with a stay on one of the islands over night. Delicious local smoked fish! Wonderful to visit, along with the female monastery. It is crowded in July that I ve visited, but worth it. Definitely try the fish sandwiches. Swimming, erm not sure I would do it again, maybe deeper in the water if there was access to a boat. Loved the ducks and other birds in the lake, a joy to see. such a nice perfect for a hot day, does take a little while to get to from munich but worth it! we went specifically to Gstadt where it was quite busy but still plenty of places to sit in the shade. easy access to the water from the platform and many people jumping off it too, also a very kind brazilian guy renting out SUPs for €14 an hour (and gets cheaper subsequent hours, he also gave me a waterproof lanyard to put my phone in which was so handy!) which we shared between 3 of us (not so effective but with less you would be able to reach the nearby island, just be careful of the cruise boats). the only downside side is overall transportation around the area, the bus was only once an hour and the last bus and ferry stops around 5pm so we almost got stranded/ was going to have to walk 2 hours to the train station (if it wasn’t for the lovely couple that dropped us off there) so i recommend staying at a part of the closer to the train station if you plan to stay longer! I visited with a friend and had a great time. However, it's important to check the weather conditions before you go good weather will enhance your experience, especially if you want to enjoy the cruise ship ride. Chiemsee was a beautiful place and I would love to again sometime. Although the castle has very tight timings as the last tour timing was 15:45 and there was not any place to sit beside the lake. But on the main port there were a lot of activities like a waterpark and a kletterwald. I would recommend to go to Chiemsee for a day trip because you get really tired after walking a lot and there are many great sights to see especially at sunset if you are on the ride back to the main port. I recommend to take the last and to sit on the top there you can get very beautiful pictures of the sun setting down. If you are interested in sailing and seeing doctors of different types, this is your place. Town centre is small, with just few minutes walk you've seen it all, but sweet. Friendly people.
