The Varna (Bulgarian: Варненската опера) is an house in Varna, Bulgaria. It is part of the and Philharmonic Society of Varna, founded by a merger of the House and Philharmonic Society in 1999. The theatre itself originally opened in 1947. -wikipedia- I believe there are some seat that should lot be sold. small but decent theater. visited it several times. but in my opinion the house building should not be painted in "floor" paint. it should be in light colours, bcs with this brown paint it looks like a village/selski club. *IMHO The beautiful, old, Venetian/ romanticism (or whatever else there was 100 years ago) styled walls of this central building offer stories from the last century, which nobody appears to want to hear, given the levels of noisy chatter I encounter every time I pass by. Good place for concerts. Lovely concert - thank you to the 6 soloists and the Varna orchestra! We loved the theatre! It isn’t large but nice and comfortable, and it somehow has a homely feel. We had Karmen, and voices were mostly very good to excellent, especially Jose, the orchestra was excellent, and the ballet was great. We’ll be definitely coming here regularly. As an additional bonus, there is a parking within a five-minute walk and a couple of good restaurants for a pre-theatre meal. Varna is another place to visit in the city. It is located in the center and has beautiful architecture. Was lucky to visit it for and ballet. The performance is great. Interesting and entertaining 1 star for the venue, 1 star for the concerts. However, you can't buy tickets online.. It's not serious that in 2024 one of the major culture venues in the country does not allow customers to buy tickets online. I had to go 3 times on 3 different days to try to get a ticket. The first day - the was closed during the official working times ( Saturday 21.12.2024 at 11 am). The next day I went and the lady at the ticket counter told me that there are few tickets left but her system does not work, so she told me to come the day after around 10 am. I arrived today (23.12.24) and the same lady told me at first there are no tickets anymore, then she switched and started telling me that the system does not work... I wasted 2 hours of my life, trying to give my money to them.. It's ridiculous how things can be much better with just tiny investment and effort. The management needs a serious overhaul. Just got back to our hotel after watching a fabulous performance of La Traviata in Varna. The star of the show, making her debut, was Aleksandrina 'Aleks' Mihailova. The rest of the fast were also fantastic. Thoroughly recommend a visit there to everyone who enjoys quality. Lovely house . Enjoyed the ballet and live orchestra . Tremendous value for money . It is about a process of buying a ticket:( . I came today to buy a ticket for a specific concert in the Opera- showed the woman a photo with date/location -she knew nothing about that concert!!Said ‘it’s not here’ many times, even made 2 calls- same replies! Went to Festival centre and a lovely lady there sold me the ticket - the concert indeed IS in the Opera! !
