It is also beautiful in the winter but it took us 4+ hours of snow wading back and forth from Osankarinca (road is not maintained from that point). The cliffs could be even more dangerous as you can't see what's under the snow. I would not recommend for anyone to repeat what we did. La localización en Google Maps no es la más precisa, y en la zona no hay cobertura. Pero se acaba encontrando un lugar amplio donde dejar el coche y empezar la caminata de unos 40-45 minutos. No es sencilla. No es peligrosa como tal, pero sí hay que tener bastante cuidado, ya que hay numerosas zonas en las que hay que ir agarrado a un cable de acero y por una vereda de apenas 30-40 cm de ancho con una caída importante. Por lo que hay que estar muy atento. Respetando esto, no parece peligrosa, especialmente si no está lloviendo. La cascada es bonita, aunque parte del encanto es el propio camino para llegar. I knew about Šumik, but up until now I never visited it. I cannot believe something so beautiful was so near where I live. The surrounding forest is ancient and a protected natural habitat and is absolutely beautiful, serene and full of fresh air. The path to the Šumik waterfalls (big one and small one) is not for the faint of heart, especially in winter, because the path goes from a medium level forest path to full on climbing down rock faces, so please be prepared if you decide to go. It's well worth it, the pictures speak for themselves, just be careful. Beautiful place with magic nature all around. A bit hard to get down to it but definitely worth it. Meditative path, must see. It’s better if you are going from Smolnik (House - Klub prijateljev narave). Trail is very well marked. Šumik is a well maintained marked trail leading up to the beautiful (Veliki Šumik). You need a bit of hiking experience and be physically at least a little prepared to access it due to some parts with a steeper descent (and then climb back up). You NEED the proper hiking footwear. Otherwise, I can only describe it as a fairy tale. Nice hike down to the waterfall, about 39min from the main road. It gets progressively steeper so watch your step. Hiking boots are mandatory, do not recommend sneakers as it can be slippery. If you like pure nature and climbing, this is perfect location. Enjoying in the nature It's a nice short, but difficult hike. The big is beautiful. There is the possibility to hike further to another but the bridge was broken.. (see picture) No way to cross the river. So once you've seen the Veliki Sumik, i'd advise you to return because going further is not worth the effort. Further, it was amazing! Dipped our toes in the river regularly. We went in the summer, me, my girlfriend and our dog. (A pug). You can carry a small dog over the difficult parts.
