A MUST IN SLOVENIA!!! Hard to put this place in words. Probably the best on our two weeks tour through Austria and Slovenia. The food was divine and the value for money incredible. We opted for the 7 course meal but probably got 12 in the end. The place is also very well designed and you would not expect that in this little town. They have one Michelin star. The owner is very cool as well. Highly recommended and would return in a heartbeat. We were with a group of friends and it was the coolest evening we could wish for. Warm, tasteful. The only disappointing aspect of our lunch was the service. Sometimes after finishing a course we waited for 10-15 min until someone came to pick up the plates. In my opinion that is not on par with Michelin-starred restaurants. Maybe they had an unusually busy day. Other than that, everything was on point! Hotel Hiša Denk exceeded all expectations! The attention to detail, warm hospitality, and incredible culinary experience made our stay unforgettable. The rooms are beautifully designed, and the serene atmosphere is perfect for relaxation. A true gem for foodies and travelers alike. Highly recommend! Food was amazing and the location absolutely gorgeous. The only thing that bothered us was the service. Our sommelier was too late with for several dishes and did not really present any wine. It was more a quick pour into the glass and telling us the grape of the wine. We missed some information such as where the vines are coming from, why has it been chosen for this particular dish etc. other than that we really liked the experience. Hidden gem in a sleepy slovenian village not far from the Austrian border. This fantastic should have at least one Michelin star. Look at the website, but better if you check it personally. You will love Gregor, his humor and his creative, exceptional high quality food. We planned a special trip for my husband's 30th birthday and hoped to celebrate with dinner at Hiša Denk. Despite table availability (inquired a month in advance), we were told a reservation was only possible with a room booking—even though we already had accommodation elsewhere. The lack of flexibility and unwillingness to accommodate a simple request was truly disappointing and spoiled an important celebration. Amazing food that is incredible value for money! The is also absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed the view of the garden and the greenery. However, we were very disappointed in the service: got still water when we ordered sparkling, first dish arrived without being offered, a lady that didn't speak the language (unacceptable in a like this, even though the majority of the guests were Austrians) then poured us a quick glass that didn't complement the food in any way. Later, another waiter thankfully took over our table and was able to provide a good pairing with some explanation about the wines. The other lady, however, then tried to serve us coffee three courses in (there were 7 all together). It seems they are short staffed or just don't put an emphasis on it which is a shame for such a quality restaurant. Hopefully, this will improve in the future since I would love to eat their food again.
