Go for earlier in the day as it becomes more populated as the day goes on. Also worth paying for the smaller speed boats as there are around 6 on the boat and you arrive giving plenty of time to find a spot to pitch your towels. Bring an umbrella and food and drink as nothing on the though a 10 minute walk along the coast gets you to a restaurant. The sand is beautiful soft white sand and the water like a swimming pool. They appear quite placid and leave you alone mostly if you leave them alone, however they tend to decide where they sit and sit there regardless of whether you are also sat there. We twice had to move our beaches and belongings as they came and sat on them.
