A well preserve working Mill. Interesting tour very informative. A great place to bring children, they can learn about were their food comes from. A lot to see. Nice cafe. Skidby, built in 1821, is one of the last working windmills in Northern Britain. (We also have the working Holgate Windmill in York too which makes and sells its own flour.) Skidby is only open on Saturdays and Sundays and it closes for lunch. Well worth a visit to see the small museum. You can't enter the working windmill itself, though you can access one floor of an adjoining building and see some of the machinery and also the information boards about its restoration works (2008-2010). Can also highly recommend the magnificent Sails Café in the courtyard for its superb food and homemade cakes. Great Good cafe, historic The wasn't open when we visited so can't comment on the museum. Still an impressive building (even better if the sails were back in place) good on site too. Very friendly staff. Nice view. Great exhibition of farming, the milk and a story about the former owner. A short movie representative of milling process it a short simulation of it would be really nice. Amusing and informative for children with lots of playing facilities. Also, there is a nice café where you can enjoy an afternoon meal. The breakfast menu also sounds really good! Free parking available. A normal ticket costs 2.5£. Great food in a lovely courtyard, best of all they do amazing cakes and ciabatta ! Interesting morning's visit One of the last working Mills in Yorkshire, rural life museum, and picnic area. Sails have been removed for refurbishment. Definitely worth a visit. We met family at the Sails and my only gripe is accessibility from the car park, my 80 year old sister walks with a stick after a knee replacement and managed but not easy. The food on offer was delicious and well done to the young staff for preparing food in a very limited area without too long a wait as very busy. The looks amazing shame it is only opened weekends. Also a huge pity there is no information about the anywhere around to read only behind locked doors. Even an information leaflet in the window would have been nice. There is a café next to the which is lovely, excellent food, the sausage rolls were absolutely delicious 😋. The tea was nice too just a shame they don't give you enough water to have a 2nd cup. Great little museum, small charge for entry. Lots for kids to interact with. Group of us went walking in the area lovely spot! The is currently under repair so the sails are off sadly but used the there - recommend 👌 We had lunch with friends it was absolutely brilliant food , staff great highly recommend. Absolutely gorgeous! Food is amazing, beautiful service. Well done!! Strongly recommend 👏👍👌 Excellent museum very informative. As it was heritage day we got to go up to the stone floor which was excellent. Staff are knowledgeable and there is a lot for kids to do also Nice being repaired as we speak Lovely area I was surprised to find out such a nice place to visit. My son loved it, he played jigsaw and with wooden farm animals. We will go back for sure Just popped in to Skidby as we were in the area and haven’t been for years. We had a very warm and friendly welcome. The displays are interesting and informative, and it was very interactive for children and adults alike. Absolutely brilliant!
