As I have family house just below the hill we were often climbing while the building was not finished as it was abandoned for a long period before it was finally completed. And it is interesting that road was at least partially built by young volunteers from all over ex Yugoslavia as part of famous ORA (omladinska radna akcija or youth work action). Čovjek koji radi u zvjezdarnici potrudio se kvalitetno nam prezentirati zvjezdano nebo, a vidjeli smo i Međunarodnu svemirsku postaju. Ulaz je besplatan, a po završetku prezentacije može se ostaviti donacija. Pogled na Split, Kaštelanski zaljev, otoke i okolicu je impresivan. Cesta do zvjezdarnice asfaltirana je cijelim putem i u relativno je dobrom stanju. Preporuke! Amazing and amazing place. Especially at night time for observing night sky. I visited the location out of opening times, thus there was no one else. It actually turned it into a perfect car trip with relaxing time over the wonderful view. There is nothing else nearby so prepare with food & water in advance! A nice map in the garden of the observatory would be nice about the islands/mountains/cities. Il faut absolument aller à cet observatoire !! Le lieu offre un point de vue parfait pour observer le coucher de soleil sur Split et au delà. Lors de notre visite l’observatoire était fermé ce qui n’empêche pas l’observation. Néanmoins je pense qu’il est préférable s’y aller lorsque celui ci est ouvert. Cudowny widok na okolice If you are a beginner astronomer this is a good place to visit. The guide will give you a tour with the telescope of the best sky objects you can see that night. This is especially nice on the bright summer night, and also if you came here earlier you can see a great sunset over Split. Free entrance however I suggest donating, lovely sunset and if you go when the institute is open you get to look through a professional telescope which is cool! Sagenhafte Aussicht, die Sternwarte hatte geschlossen als wir da waren. Aber dafür hatten wir die Aussicht ganz für uns alleine. War wirklich echt toll und die Fahrt nach oben hat sich gelohnt. Great place to see sunsets over the Split bay area. Only accessible by car, beware of narrows streets with sharp turns and steep ascents/descents. Don't drive up there if you feel uncomfortable with that. Friday and Saturday it is possible to gaze at the stars. Check website before doing so, sometimes the observatory is closed due to holidays.
