Visited Colle di Val d'Elsa for the great Friday market (if that's your thing) and then took the free lift up to the old town.....well worth a visit. Or you can use the free car parks on the SR68 Volterra to visit the old town. The views are stunning! A quiet place to watch a slow world go by. There’s a new glass elevator to allow you to gain access between the two, and it strangely fits nicely with the old part of - oddly it doesn’t seem out of place. We enjoyed watching the world go by for a while, in the peace, quiet and sunshine. Gives view to the valley from the old town. Would be nice to visit lower part of the city, but the elevator was not working. From downtown is access to upper town, also by elevator, which gets us to one of the bastion on walls.
