This is a great place to visit, good day out to see some fantastic Locomotives from the past! Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Worth a visit and enjoy yourselves😊 Autumn gala on Friday was excellent with locos ranging from the beautiful Furness Railway No.20 to modern 9F 92134, plus ELR engines. Cold day but plenty of hots drinks available at well kept stations. Would need planning as there are 7 stations and each station has something to offer. Take a day ticket or other options such as dining experience to enjoy the ride. Carry water bottles and food as does not offer any pantry unless booked in advance (treat boxes) . It gets extremely hot inside the coach as ventilation is not proper (summer only). Also check in advance if engine is functional or they are using diesel. Each station offers vintage site to take pictures and stations will have the feel of the past. Did the Dining with distinction Christmas meal tonight from Bury on the East Lancashire railway 🚂 Absolutely brilliant experience and the food was really good. A great way to start the Christmas festivities this week!! Wonderful experience at Dining with Distinction on the East Lancashire Railway lunch lasting over 3 hours. Fabulous and staff so polite. We'll worth the visit and experience and the food lovely by Lordes. The service staff on the delivered premier class and faultless. 5 stars ***** We had a nice family time with the powered by old engine and Diesel engine. The journey started at Heywood station and it took the to clim one hour. Our last destination was Rawtenstall. We toodk Diesel to return uptu Bury station and had a nice time at the Bury transport museum. You can get 50% discount for family ticket if you buy 2 weeks before. It was 22.50 Pounds as I remember. That inlude accss to the museum. This has had to be one of my favourite days out so far. The journey was 12 miles from Heywood to Rawtenstall. It was a great day out, I caught the 12.15 at Heywood and the round trip got back around 4ish. A very beautiful line and some very good well kept stations, I was very impressed by the whole set up. In Bury and Rawtenstall they have 2 very good pubs which serve excellent beer. Would I recommend? Yes, a fantastic day out Would I come back? Yes, definitely and this time I will stay over night and have a go at the ale trail. Value for money? Yes great value for money Thanks for an excellent day out, will be back Great day out, very sadly missing the Brilliant All Day Breakfast I enjoyed on my last 2 visits to Bury station. The brilliant wild flowers on the track side 'almost' made up for lost 'giant' breaky. Absolutely loved this day was bought for a birthday present for my best friend she loved it,they also went above and beyond by getting some Guinness for the jrny for her husband.staff a friendly and a warm welcome.defo going again. Great place to visit. Heywood has a large car park and a cafe in an old carriage. Very friendly staff around to help. Can't fault it!
