A beautiful and peaceful historic site. Turton Tower takes you on a journey through over 500 years of history, from its beginnings as a medieval tower, through Tudor and Victorian periods, and finally as a charming family home. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are full of character, and the surrounding woodland adds to the atmosphere. Friendly staff and a small café make the even more pleasant. Definitely worth a for anyone interested in heritage and quiet countryside walks. Interesting and tranquil place. I loved it here, for the knowledgeable volunteers, and the beautiful gardens. Unlike a National Trust place it wasn't packed, it felt peaceful and welcoming. We had sausage butties from the then two delicious fresh cakes (very good selection of cakes and ice cream but not much on the menu for savoury). It was a warm, sunny Saturday but there weren't many people around. Definitely going back for a picnic and a longer walk in the grounds. Never been into the building, although it does look magnificent, but walked past many times and stopped at the cracking with outside seating. place to stop and admire the scenery We had a brilliant day out here. A distant relative worked in the kitchen back in 1901 so we visited to see where she worked, and lived. We chatted to a guide, who knew the about the family who resided in 1901. It is a fascinating with so much history, and very different styles due to additions to the structure many years ago. The wooden furniture is stunning! The grounds are amazing, and the scenery around is stunning. You can also walk around the kitchen garden, smelling the various homegrown herbs, and also observe the apiary, where the bees make the honey which is sold in the shop! The little sells a wide selection of food and drink, and the ice cream is absolutely delicious! The car park limits you to 3 hours free parking, but there is space available on the left as you turn in to the estate, if you plan on staying longer (we were there around 4 hours!). £6 per adult and children aged 16 and under are free! I thoroughly recommend visiting! Fantastic place, friendly, knowledgeable staff with a wealth of information about its history. A bit like a tardis, bigger on the inside than it looks with 3 floors. Lovely shop that sells locally made Artisan products including; jewellery, children's toys, knitwear, hand painted cards, books about the Tower, its ghost's and people who have worked there etc., jigsaws, scented candles, hand cream, diffusers, games, handcrafted wooden pens and bowls plus many more. Woodland at the back selling hot and cold snacks with seating inside and outside. Toilets inside for visitors to the Tower and outside for those staying outside. Lovely woodland surrounding the Tower with a children's play area. We'll kept gardens and a fabulously restored kitchen garden. Free car parking. Definitely worth a visit. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm. March to November. It's a great and magic place to go for. You can have a brew at the cofee shop and a great walk arround the area. The is fascinating. Entry fees are required for interior visitors An interesting to visit. Not very large but fantastic seeing how all the rooms had been cobbled together but still standing. You have the original tower, then the newer rooms. The room guides are very pleasant and informative. There is a small attached selling drinks, cakes and some sandwiches. Plenty of walking paths and a kitchen garden. Well worth a visit. I only used the outside cafè, and walking area, but i found it to be lovely, clean, welcoming place. The behind the is so peaceful and an abundance of colour. There's a nice playarea for children and a place for adults to have a coffee and cake 🥮 . Nice place to walk, have to pay to go inside the house. There’s a cafe, a coffee van and a little allotment that sometimes sells plants. There’s also some pretty little fairy doors to find on your way round. staf and volunteers! They gave my kids a wonderfull time in the house...nice little walled next door to walk through and to buy some plants ! But the play is even hard for grown ups to do...so no need to just go there for the play area. Amazing place. Was not disappointed it is a interesting place to look around staff very knowledgeable it stands in some wonderful grounds for children to play and ideal for dog walking. Went for the Textiles exhibition, but ended up having a fantastic tour of the tower. All of the guides were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all our questions about the building. I visited Turton Tower for an hour or so on a dull June Day. I did not tour the but visited the Gift Shop and enjoyed a hot drink at a small outside serving Unit. The site is very beautiful, and there were many paths leading around the estate. It is certainly on my list to Turton Tower again to take advantage of the facilities available. We travelled by car and free parking was available. Had a great visit! Volunteers were very knowledgeable and we learnt lots about the of the Tower. Reasonably priced as well. Well worth a tower and cafe, historic with plenty to see, gardens and bee hives, excellent with a superb range of cakes. Turton Tower is rich in and heritage. If you are not afraid of asking, its local guides will provide a lot of insightful details which will help you picture yourself through times and understand better how the places develop through the years to the astonishing marvel that it currently is.
