Burgruine Hohenfreyberg

Pfronten, Germany Historical landmark

One of the Best Places To Visits in Zell Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Great ruined with 360° views over the lovely region surrounding. Some good signage to give context to it's history Great ruin located right next to Eisenberg ruin, which kind of makes it two in one deal. So, do some light hiking and enjoy pretty nature and nice views. Beautiful ancient with rich history dating back to the 1400s. Worth the walk up. So mighty and beautiful! Definitely worth the visit! And the view from the ruins is just magnificent, so that's another reason to see it. :) Nice view from the top, still i liked Eisenberg better. Park at the restaurant for easy access Hohenfreyberg together with Eisenberg directly opposite, forms a group in the southern Allgäu that is visible from a long way off. It is located about four kilometres north of Pfronten in the county of Ostallgäu. The late mediaeval hilltop was abandoned during the Thirty Years’ War and set on fire. From 1995 to 2006 the former aristocratic seat was comprehensively made safe and conserved as part of a closely observed "example of renovation". (Wikipedia) Both Castles are easy to reach, just around 60mins by feet from the Weizern-Hopferau Train Station. The Atmosphere is very particular, goth, decadent, romantic, from each you get a nice view of the other castle, you can walk everything by feet, since all the ceilings fell down there is probably nothing to fear of anymore, but be careful anyways. Very beautiful place! Definitely recommended! Amazing and climatic ruins with amazing vista and many places inside to walk through and see. As you walk and imagine how the looked back in the past, it seems even more impressive. The road is easy to go with sneakers. There is a view at the Eisenberg (several minutes away walking), equally amazing. Before the forest entrance, on the east, there is a restaurant - also a nice place to grab a beer with the Alps vista before (or after) the way. Very impressive, spectacular views and free entry to the castles!! Don't miss it!
