Great place especially when a re-enactment is there. After a massive castle hunt, this is my favorate. It's a proper defensive keep. With lots of opportunity to explore amongst most of the castle. I was wowed. It is more a restaurant place than a historical building to visit, at least this is where the emphasis goes. You can do both, of course, but there is not much to see from the castle itself, or to read on the panels (all in German!). The highlight is the chapel which is very well preserved and has magnificent, colourful tombstones in one of its walls. Nice view around the place, almost 360°. We walk up to the Burg but only the exterior of it. We had our dogs with us so didn't feel like paying to go inside the courtyard. Enchanting little castle with a birds eye view of the surrounding landscape at the top! 🤩 We had nice cool weather of 21 degrees, cloudy day. If it was a typical hot summer day, advise you to bring a cap/sunscreen/rain jacket, since it’s mostly unsheltered. Other notes: • WC available near the entrance • Not pram/wheelchair friendly • Families w infant/toddlers, not advisable to bring pram (baby carrier advisable) • No baby changing facility • Small Restaurant with outdoor seating available Incredible architecture for that times and still hanging! The environment is worth a little visit but the castle itself is in dire need of some love and renovation to make it worthwhile. Very well conserved. The entrance fee is worth the visit. Tower, basement and prison were open.
