Went on a spectacular boat cruise and returned for dinner, opting for the picturesque and cooler outdoor seating. With a good selection of entrees, mains and dessert, I chose the quiche which was very tasty and light. What a place... Owner is so warm so carefully. Rooms are very pleasant and nice. Breakfast is by your own preference and restaurant is one of the best. If you are in the neighbourhood you must try it out. This small hotel with only five rooms is a refurbished historic farmhouse. Ideally located in the village of Woudsend with access to the Slotermeer, one of the larger of the 24 lakes in Friesland that is part of the northern part of The Netherlands. The views are spectacular and include an old-Dutch and fully functional windmill just across the water. Since 2016 the owners, Jan & Nienke Bles, have created a wonderful atmosphere and an outstanding restaurant with a limited menu. They personally greet all of the restaurant guests, many of them returning on a fairly regular basis. I look forward to visit Omke Jan again. Strongly recommended. We went there with 11 last night and all was perfect: very friendly and attentive hostesses - efficient yet not overly formal, food severed timely despite the large number of people at our table, delicious and nicely presented. The kind waitress even went out of her way to satisfy our wishes to try a local cheese we saw on their menu from some days ago and wanted to try but could not find. Maybe just one small suggestion: we did not see a menu (list?) with the prices of the drinks - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Perhaps it was our mistake and we missed it (if so our apologies). if not, it may be something that could be appreciated by clients, especially these days. As of course it is embarrassing and not practical to ask how much this and that drink costs while you are having a nice, relaxing dinner.
