It fell into disrepair in the 18th century and in 1960 the new owner began a 50-year process of complete renovation. He was a painter and an artist and he lovingly and lavishly decorated every room including the ceiling and walls. It's one of the most special places we've ever stayed - don't miss it if you're in the area. Five stars! Good tour of the chateau, the tour guide was friendly, informative and made a special effort to speak English! The chateau was small but had many interesting art and features, plus spectacular views from the new viewing point at the top!! Fantastic. Your wife will not be disappointed. The family have been restoring this grand “castle” for 2 generations and the work is ongoing. History. The owner is a real character full of passion. As good as it gets for historical places to stay. We enjoyed a truly unique and memorable stay at this 800-year-old Chateau. The huge rooms have been perfectly restored and we felt like a king & queen sleeping in the four-poster bed. The continental breakfast was ample and beautifully presented.
