We love to visit our military bases all over the country, and this one is a gem! You don’t need a LOT of time take this in… but you might need more than I had if the history of our country is your thing. Is this still the largest depository of gold in the US? Who really knows but it’s fun to think so. The goal was to obtain a Visitor Pass for a year. Do not use the kiosk. You get a ticket and wait your turn. Only people jump the line at Fort Knox of all places. The staff definitely don't seem excited to see you. I obtained my pass or this would be a one star. Awesome, Family day with my son/ my soldier. Really enjoyed myself. Great food, great people & fun activities. Very nice and nicely put together. Looking forward to there Christmas gathering. My son and I won the Cornhole tournament. Good fun! Highly recommend getting a 5 day pass online to streamline the process Took a while to get in since I old Military ID was expired, which I didn't know because it had indef. On it I used the Kiosk to get my visitors pass in a manner of minutes. If you have a Real ID, and use the Kiosk, there is no need to pick a number and wait in line. If you've lived there, everything has changed.It is totally different now No deposits or withdrawals, the security officer we visited with was very nice but we would not want to draw any unnecessary attention! He looked like he could mean business in a seconds notice! DO NOT VISIT IF NOT A US CITIZEN! Me and 2 friends stopped off when driving to Nashville on our road trip and were shocked when we were approached by security inside the VC and told we were intruding on a federal military base and he should call the military police to escort us away. There were no signs or warnings prior to this so we were quite shocked. I must say he was a polite chap and we went on our way, but it was a bit concerning that they have no signs to warn you going beyond a certain point. Staff was very helpful in obtaining my pass. After an 8hr drive it was nice to have a smiling face and kind attitude. Morning traffic is always terrible. Easy to obtain a visitors pass from the main gate office. Everyone was friendly. Very impressed.
