There was NO LIFEGUARD and I have not seen one in the 5 days we spent there. The as such is beautiful, the is shallow BUT there is no excuse for not having a lifeguard there. It was a traumatising experience for everyone involved on that day and for the poor woman, who hopefully survived after the ambulance took her away. I talked to a person who has been living i n Naxos since birth and he told me that the lifeguard problematic is present all ear and sadly, people are drawning from time to time.
