We were starving and we found this restaurant in a "cave", tenanted by the (we suppose), as ancient as the walls of the city. The king of the place goes by "Professore Aperol Spritz" and it's definitely the best Aperol we have had since the beginning of our trip in Italy. The usual proportion of Aperol is 1/3, 2/3 prosecco, but in this case it was probably 3/3, 2/3. that seemed hand made was delicious. I just had a small reservation about the dessert, a pastry that was a bit too dry for my taste. But overall it was a great culinary experience. Great little place to have some antipasti, anelletti alla erice of drink some local wine. The was super friendly and explained all the products they sell like liquor, pasta, cream, and salt from trapani in detail. Even though the village was extremely empty, we were able to order from a huge menu. The cherry on top was the nice torta della nonna and a coffee pistacchio. Excellent little place, like a hidden gem was welcomed at the door by the and seated promptly, himself and his wife both very pleasant the decor was in keeping with the feel of the area , the service was fast and the array of local produce and keep sakes was incredible. Loved this little find. We loved the ambiance, the great food, the friendly and everything else. A bit off the beaten path in Erice but well worth the short walk. We would definitely return! You can sink into the silence, the beauty of this town and the wonderful views. And, of course, give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the delicious food. The wonderful couple of offered us a feast of local produce: Bruschetta, Sicilian and pesto, white wine. It took us longer to visit this place than we had planned, but definitely worth it. Access by bus from Trapani about one hour one way. Stay on site for approx. 2 hours. You need to book about 4-5 hours to be able to see everything. The rest was the cover charge. Learnt my lesson not to eat out in a tourist place. Amazing small restaurant with a great atmosphere and authentic, welcoming couple. We had a great time here and there were no issues communicating special wishes to the staff. This is a small family-run restaurant, so do not expect quick service (not that it was slow in any way) and cheap prices with "run-of-the-mill" dishes that you can find in hundreds of other restaurants. We visited Erice in February, off-season, and my mom and I ended up in this small restaurant by chance, simply because we were very hungry after a long walk. The atmosphere was interesting, charming, albeit a bit chaotic, and the seemed friendly – but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. I have never eaten such bad – and this was Italy! We weren’t informed that some items on the menu were unavailable due to a lack of ingredients (which would’ve been perfectly understandable off-season), but instead we were served completely different dishes without any explanation. My dish was overcooked (the was nowhere near al dente), tasteless, and greasy. My mom’s was even worse – clumpy, burnt, and made with some awful meat. Absolutely dreadful. To make matters worse, both of us had stomach problems afterward and terrible heartburn – clearly caused by the poor quality and preparation of the food. The only good things were the tea and the beer. To top it all off, the final bill didn’t match the prices listed on the menu. The wrote the amount on a scrap of paper and pointed to what we had to pay, adding some mysterious charges. If it had just been a standard coperto, that would’ve been fine – that’s normal in Italy – but this felt more like a scam. I do not recommend this place. Enjoyed a gorgeous lunch at this charming cafe and would thoroughly recommend the traditional Sicilian food, great coffee and selection. My family and I LOVED this place! Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had, thick, creamy with fresh whipped cream on top. Honestly the vibe was amazing, the were so welcoming, and the food was delicious. It was a slow roll- I usually prefer a more minimalist place but while we were there our meal unfolded as perhaps our most enjoyable meal in Italy. Just comfortable and good. It’s hard to explain - my family loved it (a family who eats everything and enjoys good food everywhere) and my 11 year-old wrote the first paragraph about hot chocolate. I happen to agree with her. When we left Erice we walked by the streets of average sandwich shops and we were so grateful we made the right choice.
