Nice area for a stroll, the wild flowers and woods nearby were a canny walk through. Not a huge amounts of ruins but this EH place (free to enter regardless) is a area especially to take a picnic. Just to visit, made welcome by the lady on duty How on earth do you rate an ancient piece of history 100's of years old? The ruins are beautiful, but the crowning feature has to be the remaining far wall, dominating most of the site. Some of the features of this structure are amazing, beautifully worn away but still standing strong. It's a beautiful open space rich in history and anyone is welcome, as are donations for the upkeep of the grounds. Well worth a (free entry) if you have an hour or so to spare. Local street parking is residents only, so beware! A to Guisborough should be on everyone's bucket list. The ruins are well maintained and the absolutely pristine. Volunteer who spoke with us was very informative about Henry Vlll and the local family. Lots to see and do way to spend an hour or so if you are in the area. Great cafe (oddsocks) and cocktail bar (twisted peel) nearby too. Totally run by volunteers, who are happy to give you info on the place and history. Gorgeous cathedral of English lime trees there. What's not to like. 😊 Such a little gem of a place! It’s so cute her, the remains of the are truly lovely, there a sweet little walk around the where you can see old stones from the priory. There a clearing surrounded by trees which is perfect if you need a little peace and quiet. We only popped in for a quick but was to see there was a picnic area in the woods, I wish more places had stuff like that. Over all just a really nice little place to pop into. Peaceful in the heart of town and free to the Guisborough is one if my favourite places. A hidden gem tucked into a quiet town full of history and serenity. Guisborough Project do a fantastic job of keeping the place well ran and have worked hard to restore a lot of the site. Had a experience here for the Halloween Trail.
