We visited the cellars in Hercegkút mainly for the unique atmosphere – the grassy hillside doors and winding paths reminded us of something out of The Lord of the Rings. Not all cellars were open that day, but we were lucky to stumble into Hajnalhozó Pince, where we were welcomed and offered a spontaneous tasting. The specializes in Furmint, and we were amazed to taste seven different versions of it – ranging from dry and semi-dry, to semi-sweet, lavender-infused, and fully sweet wines. It was an incredible way to explore the depth and versatility of this one grape variety. Each had its own character, and the was both informative and personal. We ended up buying several bottles – not just because the were excellent, but because the whole experience was so enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area, whether you’re a enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable, down-to-earth experience in a magical setting Well deserved 5 stars. He invited us inside, told us about the varieties we could taste and about the interesting good mold growing in the that is built inside the hill. We tasted 4 wines: 2 dry and 2 sweet. The are very aromatic, with unique flavors depending on variety, production method and time spent in barrel. A wonderful with a gracious host in one of the World Heritage Cellars of Hercegkút. I bought a bottle of the sweet Szamorodni. A lovely dessert with great acid balance so the isn't cloying. Instead, it's bright and flavorful.
