The engineering behind the concept is amazing! Would love to see the 4 Archimedes screws wind up and push the water around. The whole area is really clean and looked after. Perfect for an hour strolling around. Love it here. More often than not there's something going on round here. From dog walkers to river user's, boats, boards, swimmers even, there's always something. It's such a relaxing place for us. Shame about the houses being built right near the waters edge still everything good has to be sacrificed for the financial gain of some faceless business man who isn't local but just needs his money at the costs of anything beautiful Brilliant place we'll looked after nice staff plenty of walks and cycling A firm favourite place to go for a walk. Follow the smooth walking trails, awesome for kids to scooter around too. My kids like to feed the ducks, watch the wild seals playing hide and seek, clambour on the boulders, perform on the stage to imagined crowds, and picnic on the grass. The Talpore pub and play area are located there for meals and refreshments. Stunning little walk if you start at the barrage you can walk the Bridges all the way up to bridge road and back down the other side crossing back over at Newport bridge around 7miles of easy walking, great early morning walk. The barrage is a great place to visit. Good walking routes around it, nice to see the wildlife including birds and seals. The grounds are reasonably maintained and there is parking available. A great paved loop around the Tees barrage, river tees, over the Newport bridge and back. You can continue on the path past the bridge towards middlesbrough. At the barrage is the Air trail, and other water activities such as paddle boarding, and home to the international white water course. A lovely pub The Talpore is located on there serving food & drinks as well as a premier inn, and a caravan, motorhome park. Over the other side is a lovely coffee stop selling a great variety of coffees, yorkshire flapjacks and lovely small donuts made with their own ideas of fillings and toppings. The whole area has plenty of parking, seating and dog friendly. Good wheelchair access and lovely surroundings. Good access to walks along the river on a shared cycle/foot path. If you're lucky you might even see a seal on the tidal side downstream, or a few sea birds.
