First stop on the Aufsesser trail, started with a meal and #1, definitely homebrew, taste the freshness....visit the chapel in Aufsess proper and swear to me that isn't a bust of Mark Twain, which it isn't but that shouldn't stop you from getting the first impression that it is, go von und zu the two castles. There's an Aufsesser Platz in Nuernberg, but the is better here. You'll appreciate the Aufsesser legacy when you visit the Germanisches National Museum. Had dinner at the fourth brewery/restaurant, hope they passed the health inspection. Stopped here for a quick one day with my wife, who was driving. Though not as well known as the other breweries on the Aufseß Beery Hiking Circuit, it's probably the best. Stopped back on my 100 mile 4 day hike and decided to have a Schnitzel while there. It took awhile to get it, but it was truly homemade, obviously freshly breaded and fried and looked more like something your mother would make than from a restaurant. It went well with the and it was great sitting out in the sun with lots of other hikes. Great spot. We stopped for a while walking the trail. The waitress was rather rude. We didn't feel welcomed at all. They have only one kind of which didn't taste good. Lovely place. Friendly owner who claimed his English was rubbish, it was not. Great stop on the brewery trail for food and beer. The Landbier and the unpronounceable schnaps are an absolute must. I loved every minute of the hike through Aufseß. Was not open.
