Great rose that can be visited for free and provides great views of Bamberg. A great place for a quick break after walking up the hill! Although there were no blooming in the end of April and despite the cloudy skies, the gardens looked with city skyline on one side and New Residence building on the other. We were there too early to really see much of the roses, but it is a pretty well manicured, and it has good balcony to get son Panaramic views of Cities Nice, lovely next to the New Residence. Benches are laid out for those who wish to relax for a while and there are walking paths for those who wish to explore the garden. There is a café at the corner. Since it is on a hill, you can get nice views of Bamberg town from the terrace. Very lovely though not so many at my visit time, but there are seats, tiny fountain, and a not-too-high city view. The Rose of the New Residenz in Bamberg, is a gorgeous place to take a stroll through and enjoy the 4,600 planted roses, neatly trimmed hedges and lime trees. There are beautiful, baroque statues (created by the Bamberg court sculptor in 1760), fountains and the inner court is surrounded by the classic architecture of the creamy-yellow coloured buildings. Serving as the home of the Prince-Bishop, the was planned by Prince-Bishop Friedrich Karl von Schönborn. It was completed in 1757. There is a pavilion and a cafe as well. It is a lovely place to stroll through on a day. Stop and smell the roses. Simply amazing and place! Very good city view, are even in November (that are left). Statues are also interesting. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures of the because they were blossoming beautifully in the summer. There are quite a few pictures of the surrounding houses and the street from the level of the garden. I wish I could visit the Rose again... I guess it is one the most places in bamberg but I expected to see more flowers it was a small garden... only good points was the nice view from top as u can see in the video... Beautiful, intricate, and neat. On the one side of the garden, a lovely view of Bamberg can be enjoyed from some benches in natural shade. For the itself, it is best to visit during the spring and summer, but the view is available year-round of course.
