A great museum that only opened in 2021. It tells the little known story of a WW2 Breton resistance base that was set up under the noses of the occupying German forces. Definitely worth a especially if you're interested in WW2. It's set in a wooded area where there's a picnic area and a cafe that serves drinks and food at reasonable prices. Interesting visit. €8/adult. Decent amount of parking for our mid-September visit. Approximately 70% of the text was in French within the exhibition, meaning reliance on Google translate. The English summary leaflet was very small. Film footage was interesting and came with subtitles. If WW2 history is your thing, I'd recommend. Allow 2-3 hours for your visit. Toilets on site (although no soap in the gents) Coffee machine and separate cafe also available, although I took my own. Pleasant staff. Absolutely fascinating, with so many interesting (and in some cases heartbreaking) exhibits that really put you in the shoes of someone in occupied Brittany in WWII. Particular highlights for us were the propaganda posters, very well-preserved weapons and vehicles and the outdoor section with the giant artillery and bunkers. Not that I expected it, but quite a few things haven't been translated into English, so come with Google Translate on your phone or something if you're not fluent in French. The took around an hour or two, so really worth the entry price of €8. It's very easy to find and has a big car park and restaurant on site. Would highly recommend. Many interesting facts. But most of it was not translated to english. Also most of it was reading long texts. Few audios and those were not translated (only subs). Not recommended for non french speakers. Very nice and big. There are a lot of vehicles and anti air guns outside. Inside there is a gig and nice museum that shows a lot of how life in occupied France. There are a lot of guns and a lot of other vehicles inside. There is a film too about the French resistance. There also a lot of suits and other stuff. A Powerful and Thought-Provoking Visit The Museum of Breton Resistance is a moving and well-presented tribute to the local heroes of WWII. The exhibits are clear, engaging, and available in English, with powerful personal stories and authentic artifacts that bring the history to life. It’s a sobering but inspiring experience that’s well worth a if you’re in Brittany. Highly recommended for adults and older children. We came here with my son who is autistic, he is non verbal but makes vocalisations like singing, he cannot control it and can’t understand “be quiet”. A member of staff came and spoke to us in french and whilst I didn’t understand her the gist of it was “please can you make your child be quiet”, I don’t know if someone else had complained, or if she just couldn’t recognise his obvious behavioural indicators of being autistic. But we had on our lanyards indicating we are caring for a disabled person; and it absolutely ruined the whole experience for us. He is disabled. We did our best to tell her and I think she understood, but this is the first time in his life we have ever encountered a lack of understanding. It ruined the day for me. Disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm from the staff on the ticket counter, the actual exhibits were amazing and plentiful, quite sombre at times, we’ve been to war museums in Guernsey about the occupation this feels similar but very modern in the building. The setting is beautiful too, and it’s well worth bringing a picnic.
