We had an amazing day at the Westland Museum! You immediately immerse yourself in the region's fascinating history - there are so many interesting facts and captivating exhibits. The kids especially loved the quest, they simply couldn't tear themselves away! And what a beautiful they have! The flowers and fruit trees create a magical atmosphere - you walk around and enjoy the beauty. The parking is free and very convenient. This is a real treasure! We're delighted and will definitely come back here again! This was one of two stops on a bus tour that provided working displays of greenhouses and gardens, and a guide provided historical information during the tour. There was a review of how the use of these structures developed over time and the creative methods used to maximize production of fruits and vegtables, as well as some of the old equipment used in days gone by. There is also a small that displays historical information on the people and equipment used. I honestly didn't know what to expect here, and as we wound our way through the tour I found myself wishing that I had gone elsewhere. The information is mildly interesting and very slow paced. Unless you are an avid gardner or a farmer, you may want to reconsider visiting here in favor of other points of interest. Not only was I surprised by some of the things that I learned about the agricultural history of the region, but I also loved experiencing the tranquil and greenhouses as well. Everyone is super kind and helpful, and the art exhibition that they currently have featured is also worth a visit. We spent ~2h to the exhibition and gardens. We appreciate the focus on the history of horticulture, which is covered very well! It is a small museum, but it's historical is really worth the visit. The shows 3 different era's of horticulture and is kept by volunteers. They even sell produce from the garden. Very interesting to get insights into the history of market gardening in the Westland of The Netherlands. Vintage collection of tools and equipment demonstrating the technology used in the 'kassen' from the beginning to the high technological solutions now being used to maximise production. Talked at some length to one of the staff who talked at some length about his personal experience working in the kassen as a young lad with his older family members. Hadn't heard of hot and cold kassen before. Well worth a in my opinion. The is very beautiful in August, with lots of ripe fruits and vegetables. You can also buy some to take home. It was a nice visit. I do recommend this place to those growers who want to stay connected with their roots. Here you can find the early tools and gradual improves in horticulture field. It reminded me the old nursery of my grandfather who was growing roses and pot plants during 50s to 90s in one-sided greenhouses. As a grower this was really inspiring and what I loved about this place is that local old retired growers are still busy there working hard with passion.
