Definitely worth visiting 👍 It's worth a visit in this town as there doesn't seem to much else to do. Has a large viking boat which you can climb on. The entrance fee is not to excessive. There is an audio guide in many different languages so don't forget to charge your phone and have your headphones handy. There is also a shop. A beautiful museum that houses a full size Viking ship replica. The building is a bespoke design although the museum could be improved as far as the whole presentation and history of this extraordinary culture. It’s worth a visit though and should not be missed. The town is small and manageable for walking around. I waited quite a long time to see the largest functioning viking ship ever built nowadays. Made over 1000km road trip. Worth every second. Super nice and friendly people running museum and Sagastad voyage. Highly suggest to anyone. Not quite a Viking history museum, per se, but rather centered on the history of a particular Viking funeral ship found in the area and recreated at full scale with beautiful attention to detail. The recreated ship is the centerpiece, with a couple of little surrounding plaques and interactive exhibits. It's a fun road trip stop. The boat is incredible - it is a replica and not an original (which was burned as a funeral pyre). Lots of interesting stuff. The visit is only an hour maximum, but nice on a wet day. This was an awesome experience! The location is a bit off the beaten track but well Worth the hour drive from Loen area! If you have any interest in the Viking history at all this is a must visit!!!! We spent about two hours listening to the audio guide as well as exploring on our own time. Being able to go into the ship was amazing and we loved the video showing one of the annual launches. We hope to make it back one April to partake in the launch festivities! Brilliant museum with good artifacts, short film about the Vikings. Also the replica of the Viking boat and short film on how they made it. Costumes available to try on was fun.
