Књига "Голгота и Васкрс Србије 1915-1918" из првог лица описује ситуацију на острву Видо почетком 1916-е. На њега су стизали они чије је здравствено стање било процењено као критично. Острво је било голо, без зграда, шатора, било каквог смештаја, заклона, без кухиње, тоалета, ... А онда је почела да пада киша! Јунаци који су победили на Куманову, Брегалници, Церу, Дрини, Колубари, ... умирали су на голом камену под кишним небом, болесни, исцрпљени, гладни, беспомоћни. Прихватали су и такву смрт, само да им неко опет не нареди покрет. После толиког пута, и смрт им је била лакши избор! Када се Др Владимир Станојевић појавио на острву, прво су направљени шатори од весала и некаквих бродских церада. Онда су постављена бурад у којима је врила вода, у коју је потапана одећа сваког од војника док је он био на купању. На тај начин уништене су стенице које су преносиле тифус и друге болести. Организована је и кухиња, ... Стање је од потпуно очајног, где су само сакупљани и одношени мртви, прешло у тешко. И даље се умирало на велико, али је некима почело да поправља стање.
