The are excellent — flaky, fresh, and incredibly satisfying — with vegetarian options that are just as as the classic ones. Everything is simple and done right. Prices are almost unreal by today’s standards, making it an easy stop whether you’re hungry or just curious. I have tried a lot of in Malta, bud hands down this is far the best. I had the one with the peas and one with cheese. The peas were used some special, Middle Eastern spices, filled with a fresh, crispy pastry. Unbelievably and cheap, the queue goes quickly, so it's worth the wait! The were chef’s kiss. Flaky, and perfect. My uber driver told me this place was the place to get them and so popular, they took the doors off so they are always open. Limited seating. Cash only. Stopped en route from Mdina to the catacombs. This authentic and local maltese café is seemingly always busy from opening until closing - for a reason! Their locally made and qassatat are on a different level, as as they can be and packed with love and as many flavors as possible! Totally amazing food experience, and they’re just €0,60-1,30 each too! The venue is quite small and charming mixed with both locals and curious visitors and the workers are super efficient yet warm and friendly. This place gave us the best breakfast experience we could have wanted, great find! The best of Malta. We could feel the tradition inside this store. The pea and chicken are a must. They are crunchy with fillings. The qassata are MASSIVE so you could definitely share this. Just wow! We was just coming out of Medina and we were walking across towards Rabat and we saw a bunch of school kids eating some sort of pastry and then we saw the companies name of the bag and it was queues out the door so we definitely thought this is the place to eat for light snack. Hands down, it is one of the most delicious, flaky crispy I didn’t even know what it was called but the atmosphere that was filled inside the room bought me back to 1996 just a nice exaggeration but that’s the vibe I felt the oven was authentic. It’s old it’s just such a vibe when you see old people sitting down eating enjoying a coffee. Look in my photos I can’t believe you can buy anything for €0.60 we brought two pasitizzi and one pie a toasty ham and and a milky for just under €5. I’ve tried them at some of the more popular pastizzierias as well, but this place is definitely on another level. I assume it’s not very well known, as they don’t have any locations in Valletta. We tried three different types of pastizzi: chicken, ricotta, and peas. The chicken was the standout, followed closely by the ricotta. The peas version wasn’t my favorite, as it had a hint of spice that didn’t quite work for me. We also tried the qassatat with ricotta, which was absolutely amazing. Prices are incredibly reasonable; pastizzis are around €0.50–0.60 each, qassatat is €1.30 and tea costs about €0.60. I’ll definitely come back here if I ever return to Malta 🇲🇹 Ps: just a recommendation (don’t want to be rude to the original flavour) I think qassatat with could arrive to nirvana if it included a bit of pastırma (turkish beef bacon) or bresaola pieces. The taste is but not superior. Jef's shop in Birkirkara is also better for pastizzi. Coffee, only black coffee. We had seen other reviews recommending this place and we are very happy we tried it. Traditional, no-frills and bar, and a place to sit outside and watch the world go by. Queue got long at 12 so get in early! They are served straight from the oven, so super fresh. Tried the and peas options and they were both really good. There was a big line of people, but it goes down really quick, we were waiting outside and we got there and the food in 10 minutes time. one is good, chicken could be a lot with its seasonings, I recommend at least two of any kind to feel "full", for fully 3 at least. 👍 The best place to eat in Malta in my opinion.
