The has gone through a lot of work over the years, but the original structure is amazing. It’s a fabulous piece of architecture. Cute, but small. Built in 1767 by Francisco Paulino of Seville during the rule of king Carlos III and represents one of the best examples of an 18th century fort. The fortress was actually built upon the remaining metre high ancient Roman walls. Nowadays, the location is used by municipality organizing workshops, hosting expositions. You can pass by the gate and enter a nice inner square which leads up to the outer platform with a stunning view on the seaside, la Duquesa beach and area around. Get your camera ready! OK for a quick visit. Likely to take around 10 minutes to visit. It’s not that large or super impressive but plan a quick visit and you’ll be fine. Beautiful... we’ve been coming here for years, and this was truly special. For the first time, we were able to explore inside and get a proper look around the entire set-up. The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking — stretching from San Luis de Sabinillas all the way to Duquesa and beyond. It’s a panoramic feast for the eyes! Beautiful historical site that is free to visitors. It took me about 30 mins to see the displays, although not sign was in English so Spanish speakers may spend more time. The view was really nice. You can see some of the construction, renovation, and materials used over time! It's closes for siesta, so check ahead! Didn't get to see inside the castle, but really nice parking spot at the beach nearby to spend an afternoon and good village atmosphere. What a gem, we had a lovely exploring.
