Amazing interactive trip through time, from the beginning of recorded music up until today. The museum also offers an insight into the history of the town, from the master clock builders to the record industry until the present. If you a person of sound, you better not miss this. A wide exhibition on the development of "sound machines" - from the first Edison development, to grammophones and record players. Good for tech and no-tech people. Staff is super friendly and happy to explan, discuss and also show some of the exhibits live! If I could give 6 stars I would. Great collection and a lot of information. There was a demonstration of multiple of the record players. I loved it! As I got my first record player at the age of 12, that exhibition is just awesome. There is the full history from Edison's wax cylinders, via Emil Berliner's idea of stamped records (the system which won and we still use for records), to patent wars and the etablishment of the "music industry". The introductory movie explains it. And the music boxes actually work, you can get the Pfennig coins at the reception. Has also an additional tape recorder collection.:-) I never experienced that before, beautiful place for people who love vinyl records and music 🎵 Wonderfull. Lovely , brings back the old days Modern museum with large collection of grammophones and shield clocks. Good audioguide in German, French and English, with clear explanations that weren't overly long, and amazingly friendly lady behind the desk, that gave extra info when she saw us looking at certain pieces and started several grammophones and other things so we could hear what they do and what kind of music they produce. Overal a great experience, highlight of Sankt-Georgen and the region and inexpensive to visit.
