This place survives by lacking competition. The food is simple and cheaply made, and is expensive at the same time. Clientele consists of mostly local old people and their relatives. The only redeeming factor is that the staff here is very nice. At first glance there are no vegetarian options. But the friendly man behind the counter in informed us that we could get the omelette without ham and that they probably had vegetarian burgers. Turns out they did. Decent burger with a nice salad as topping.loafs of fries. Friendly and nice staff. The place and the placement is not what I would call cozy but it's very practical, right by the side of E39. Did not stay in the rooms. We didn’t stay at the hotel, but we ate lunch here while traveling. You order at a counter and they give you a number. The staff bring food to your table. They have a back patio that overlooks some water where you can eat. Service is quick, and friendly. They have an ice cream bar, with some popsicles as well. Ben's cafe and motel is a great place to stop by and have a break from travelling. There is a gas station here, cafe and even a motel (as the name implies). Clean bathroom facilities, a nice selection of food and desserts, and you can sit inside and outside enjoying your food. Food itself is okay, typical selection of burgers and chip, lasagna, hot dogs, and also traditional Norwegian Sunday dinners. Good selection of ice cream and cakes as well. Recommend the soft served ice cream served with strawberries! Lovely people working here, be prepared of it being busy especially around holidays and Sunday afternoons! Nicely laid out and a very slick operation. Staff paying a lot of attention to cleaning routines. Good range of basic foods. Great fries, good burgers, and the ice creams were popular. The best cafe in the area and the kindest people you'll ever meet. I can only recommend this place. See you again when I come back to Norway. So I'd heard a lot about the chips/fries and I was like great, it's hard to come by stuff like that in Norway. The chips were in all honesty - meh. Not sure what all the fuss was about. It's not a very nicely decorated space, and it is absolutely not vegetarian friendly. Apparently the burgers were ok. It's an alright stop if you need food and you're on a roadtrip, but it's definitely not a perfect food spot if you know what I mean. Spacious, clean rooms with view over the lake.
