But the roads to and from this place are the big highlights of the trip Lovely place! Very easy to get here, and a very large area to park your car. There are multiple trails to go on in the area if you like hiking. There are also lots of picnic benches for those who want to take a lunch break. The houses themselves are very interesting, however only one of them is open to the public (the red one is closed). Be careful of broken glass, pottery, and sharp rocks. I am torn about writing a raving review on this absolute beauty spot. On the one hand, I wish for all of you good folks to visit. Yet, on the other hand, I see how that destroys the place. Please treat it with great care. It is a miraculous but fragile remnant of a bygone era. Tucked under a dramatic, overhanging cliff in Jøssingfjord, this unique spot blended raw nature with history. The centuries-old timber houses sheltered beneath the rock felt almost mystical—like stepping into a folk tale. The peace here was profound; just the sound of dripping water and distant waves. As part of the Magma UNESCO Geopark, the geology was fascinating—the massive rock canopy formed by ancient glaciers. Perfect for quiet reflection or photography. Wear sturdy shoes for the short walk from the parking lot. This place is beautiful! A one-of-a-kind attraction in Norway indeed. It’s fascinating to just walk around and feel the vibe of what it’s like to live under this huge rock hundreds of years ago. Parking is free and we were surprisingly the only ones there on a Sunday around 19:00. Maybe it was too late? Regardless, you should never miss this on your itinerary while visiting Scandinavia! Before coming here, explore Rekefjord by driving through Fv33. 😇 On a rainy day we drove the windy roads to this beauty spot. The little cottages are so genuine and magical. Missing from many photos is the huge titanium mine and the building work in the area. Still worth a visit though.... The viewing point just above the village is lovely and has an interesting WW2 history. Very beautiful view! Lovely to visit if you're driving by! A piece of history and impressive to see. A beatiful scenic place for content creators, photographers and just regular tourists. The surrounding area is quite ruined though and during summer it can be a bit crowdy, especially in the weekends. I am a photographer and Ilive just 45 minutes from this place and I always come back all year round. The drive from Egersund is quite nice. I can also recommend the hiking trips around the area, especially "Hellersheia" which takes you on a roundtrip on top of the mountains above this place. The view is fantastic.
