The best way to climb is through the stairs form the west side of Lycabettus Hill. I climbed from the east side next to the car road which is very long. A beautiful spot on top of the with the best of all of Athens. The Acropolis in the distance was awesome to see. I wish I had a longer zoom on my camera to get a better close up view. It really gives you a perspective of how huge Athens actually is. It was our first time up here in Athens even after so many holidays in Athens in our past. My wife definitely did her homework. On the way up you also pass a restaurant where you can get a refreshing drink on your way up or on the way down. I would highly recommend going up here just to enjoy the of the center, Acropolis etc. Beautiful views. I hiked up the paths to this hill. It's doable but bring water on a hot day! The from this hilltop are amazing! This is a place every visitor should see. The up may seem tough but it's actually not that hard, so don't be afraid to give it a try. Took me around 20 mins to slowly uphill to the peak. There's a cable car for 12€, but I still recommend walking up and taking the along the way if you're up for it. The are absolutely gorgeous on a clear day, you will be able to take in the of the entire Athens and Piraeus. The Acropolis will seem tiny from up here, and will require a better camera or phone to capture it. I came up an hour before and waited for it. You can get better with less crowds by sitting in the pathways leading to the peak. Don't forget to get something to drink and enjoy the sunset! You can choose to go up the by cable car or stairs. It is a place to go and see, but it is not enjoyable. Athens is a very special and beautiful city. This was the weakest place among the places we saw. over Athens and extraordinary sunset. And a small 18th century chapel of Agios Georgios Lycabettus with some frescoes inside at the very top. We didn't visit the restaurant. We sat at the cocktail bar and we had a few glasses of wine because the place has a as it's located on the Acropol side of the hill. They say it's magical, they say it's romantic - maybe it is. Definitely it's worth a stroll. Choose a weather with nice 15% cloudiness and preferably the golden hour for the best shots. This place is quite tall, so be prepared to around 30 mins. When you approach the top, you will see cafes densely located, they create an illusion that you have to order something at this cafes to see the view. Do not fall into this, there is path to the top though cafes, where you will find amazing view... and dozilion of tourists, especially during time. We got there about an hour before and there were already quite a few people there. The top was very crowded by 30 minutes before sunset. There are a few places along the way up that offer more quaint locations with fewer people. The cafe halfway up is very cozy and has drink options. No ticket is required.
