Salankamen savaşı bizim adımıza Kutsal İttifak savaşları olarak adlandırılan Great Turk War döneminde 19 Ağustos 1691 tarihinde gerçekleşen Sadrazam Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Paşa'da dahil olmak üzere 20.000 askerin üzerinde kayıp veren Osmanlı ordusunun Zenta Savaşı ile beraber bu 16 yılda yaşadığı iki büyük yenilgiden biridir. Osmanlı ordusu uç serhadinden çekilip Belgrada kadar düşman ordusuna bırakmış , bu savaş sonrasında Rusya'da ittifaka katılmıştır. Salankamen köyünden 1.5 km güney batıda yer alan bu anıtı Avusturya Macaristan İmparatorluğu döneminde 1892'de zaferin 200.yılı anısına dikilmiştir. Savaş Osmanlının Avrupadan çekilişinin büyük adımı sayılır , bizim tarihimizde ise büyük bir yenilgi olduğundan çok sözü edilmez. Tarih merakı olanların ziyaret etmesi gereken bir anıt.
