A beautiful location surrounded by green nature with a great of Parnitha! The food is nice and in good prices, even though there isn't much variety. Good service, and a very beautiful salon and dining area to hang out in! If the weather is good, make sure to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view! We drove from Athens to Mpafi, had our breakfast there and then we went to Flambouri on foot. Amazing experience, best get away from Athens. We also stayed here for two nights, two years ago. Room was super clean and staff are very friendly. Food is great 👍 Great hking area an hour out of Athens but best avoided on public holidays as it gets crammed with day trippers from Athens and the northern suburbs. The day we visited, Dec 26th (Δεύτερη ημέρα Χριστουγέννων) the refuge was absolutely heaving with people going to eat while the walking trails were reasonably quiet. However parking was almost impossible! Do the option! The food tastes better. What a great spot to have a delicious snack before hiking back down. Walnut and Chocolate cake and Greek coffee...yum! Amazing place in the middle of the forest. It was a surprise to find such a place only an hour from Athens. The coffee and the tasty desserts were just the cherry on top. Such a lovely spot! Perfect place to chill after a or even just to drive up for a coffee or tea. They serve simple but tasty Greek hot food, and the is absolutely breathtaking. The fresh mountain air makes it even more special. Parking is free, but on weekends it can get a bit busy since it’s a popular spot for hikers. Totally worth stopping by! The refuge is located on the top of the mountain with an incredible over Athens. The staff there are extremely friendly and welcoming. We each rented a mattress for €15 and stayed a night. We had the whole room to ourselves, since no-one else went there on foot apparently. The food portions were generous and delicious. Apparently there're several ways of getting there: by car, by cable car and hiking. We chose the hardest way - hiking. According to Google, you can from the bottom of the mountain (Thrakomakedones Θρακομακεδόνες) to the refuge in just under 3 hours. We started at 2pm and arrived just before 8pm. We had some additional baggage and food on us, so we had to make stops every 20-30 minutes. During the first part of the you're going through a burnt land (apparently fires are rather common in that area), which is challenging in terms of temperatures and not so aesthetically pleasing. Just 40 minutes before the first spring (Πηγή Κορομηλιά) you enter the forest and there the temperature is lower and it's generally much nicer to hike. Make sure you take enough water and food, since the might turn out longer than you expect. Also the second spring (Mesiano Nero - Spring) dried out when we were there so make sure you take advantage of any spring that you come across. Very warm people and amazing view, for food it has only 3 or 4 options per day but it is enough and adequate with decent portions and nice flavors. Inside if you can find a spot ( due to many people ) you can warm yourself in one of the two fireplaces Very nice and cozy but it's more like a restaurant than a refuge.. Refuges are supposed to be on hard to get locations not accessible by car so you get to meet people who are into climbing or mountain exploration.. Most people go there with their kids or dogs to have a coffee since it is up on the mountain but it's 10 meters from a parking and a cazino.. It seems like a refuge and you will see a bit of nature but don't expect the true experience Visited on mid September after a short hiking trail experience, as there are plenty in the nearby area. If you approach by car, be prepared, the road is difficult, lot of curves and sharp turns. Has an outdoor patio with a great of the Attican basin. Food and coffee are served, value for money I would say for both. Perhaps further in the autumn / winter you would be lucky to taste traditional pies with cheese and/or spinach. The Refuge also has rooms for accomodation. Didn't visit the rooms. Food very good and traditional , workers very polite 👌, location is beautiful. Only downside is that it is very crowded during weekends and the parking is difficult.
