Pretty spectacular sight. The size of the machinery is lost in this massive mine. Like someone else said, put the location in your map and keep going when it says private road. You can park the car near the stairs. Pretty spectacular sight. The size of the machinery is lost in this massive mine. Like someone else said, put the location in your map and keep going when it says private road. You can park the car near the stairs. I guess this is the only free observing point from the south part of the mine. The view is really impressive, it is possiblle to see most part of the mine and different mechanisms, but on the weekends probably most of them will be still. Far away there are three plants that produce a lot of smoke, which add atmosphere. Take some binoculars or camera with good zoom. Unfortunately it is quite hard to get here - take the first turn to the right when you are at Am Tagebau road and follow almost circle around the railroad, verify way with maps - there is no pointers, but anyway all other roads are closed with signs "Do not enter". The viewpoint is in good condition (it is a platform with handrails). Mit dem Fahrrad um den Tagebau......sehr imposant Very interesting site to discover some of the consequences of the emotionally-driven closure of nuclear plants in Germany with the direct consequence of giving this coal mine several more years to go (thus causing several hundreds casualties every year due to the atmospheric pollution) as well as vast amount of CO2 released in the atmosphere. The site itself is worth the visit, the landscape is so surprisingly barren and deeply dug by really huge excavators. It is really something to see ! When you arrive by car you will see a sign saying "private way", just continue and you will arrive at the car park. Those machines are almost 100m tall. Yes they look smaller. No, they're just very far away. Can also see wild boar Fascinating. This is an absolutely huge working open cast coal mine. We visited the viewpoint and watched the massive machines at work from the lovely cafe with reclining chairs under a setting sun. Quite an odd place to visit but we really enjoyed it. The coffee and cake were very tasty too. Plenty of parking and not too busy. O priveliște incredibila No more nuclear power plant, decided by the volks. Good luck with coal ! Vox populi. Deutschland uber nothing. 問了AI說這裡是採礦場,乍看以為是美國大峽谷,哈哈哈…我太誇張了,因為是自駕遊所以喜歡到處看看,觀景台離礦場有點遠是缺點 Very nice view! Amazing. I’ve been to Hambach. It is like a an open wound. Festering, with excavators as maggots. I am certain that even in Eden we would find reason enough to burn the tree of life to charcoal and grind Gods bones to meal. There is a perverted beauty to be found here. But how can we expect salvation when the knife still lays plunged into the flesh? Expect absolution while gnawing on His bones? For the things we do even Gods silence is mercy. 5/5 stars. would visit again. A little remote viewing platform with a parking lot and garbage bin, no facilities (toilets) open to the public. Nice, foresty area, good view. The noise is also noteworthy, surprisingly loud once on top of the hill crest! If you think these photos are beautiful, then you have no clue of what's the impact of coal on climate change... #leadonclimate #StopKohle #climatechangereality Beeindruckend 82km² great view. 10/10 gerne mehr davon Very impressive view over an industrial landscape. Sad! Germany is very strict about many laws and policies. I wonder how they allow this? Now this hole have enlarged as the size of the city colonge and soon they will eat up the whole Germany. No one is seeing the negetive side of this damage that this one selfish profiter is making!
